About the Opportunity: Buller REAP
Buller REAP (Rural Education Activities Programme) is a community-focused organisation dedicated to supporting education, development, and well-being throughout the Buller region. Working with individuals, families, and communities, Buller REAP offers a wide range of services, including youth programs, community workshops, and educational support initiatives. By fostering collaboration with local schools, NGOs, and community agencies, Buller REAP is committed to creating positive outcomes for people of all ages and backgrounds, helping them reach their full potential and contribute to a vibrant and resilient Buller community.
We are seeking a dedicated Youth Coordinator-Youth Worker on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. This role is crucial in supporting young people aged 8-28 and their whānau in the Buller region, fostering their growth through a strengths-based, community-driven approach. Your main duties will include:
• The facilitation of youth services and strengthening community networks through a termly youth network hui.
• Support of at-risk youth, including those within the justice system, NEETs, and school leavers.
• Developing innovative programs in collaboration with youth to foster positive development.
• Building trusted relationships with young people and connect them with appropriate support services.
About You:
Ideally you will:
• Be qualified in Youth Work or have significant relevant experience
• Demonstrate your ability to engage with a diverse spectrum of young people, whanau and community members
• Have strong communication and administration skills
• Proven high emotional intelligence and a team-focused attitude
