IT Heavy Hitters Charity Boxing is back in Wellington and registrations are open now at https://itheavyhitters.com/

For our 2026 event we are open to anyone from any job type, not just IT. Our history since 2014 was focusing on the tech sector and will always be part of our DNA, but our goal is raising money for Voices of HOPE and we'll do what is needed to achieve that.

That means you can be a tradie, an accountant, you could be New Zealand Police, Fire and Emergency NZ, Royal New Zealand Navy, New Zealand Army, Royal New Zealand Air Force, a teacher, a bus driver or even currently unemployed...

Our rules are pretty simple, be over 18 at the start of training and be 50 or under on fight night on 4th July.

If you want to step well outside your comfort zone in 2026, push yourself physically and mentally for the chance to step into the ring and get your hand raised as a winner, head to our website to find out more!

In case you missed us, we've been over on the other side doing good work for MATES in Construction New Zealand, but it's time to get the band back together for 2026 and see if we can raise some much needed funds for Voices of HOPE. We're making some changes to our next line up so stay tuned for all the details!

Registrations will open up on February 1st and training will start around mid-March. We are locked in and ready to get to work... are you?

“Often imitated, never duplicated”

We’ve had a quantity of messages in the last few days about a new event called Hardhat Heavy Hitters. Despite the organisers using actual photos of our events featuring our past fighters and coaches in their advert, using very similar naming and ironically creating what they describe as a ‘unique corporate boxing event’, this has nothing to do with us, our team or our organisation - the Heavy Hitters Charitable Trust.

While it’s easy to jump to the negatives, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and like the old saying goes, “a rising tide lifts all boats”. As long as they employ stringent safety practices when it comes to fighter wellbeing, matching and referees and governance, then combat sports as an industry can continue to grow.

We do wish them all the best and as it’s 2025 and the technology exists, we can thoroughly recommend that the organisers consider using ChatGPT when they make any future events to help create some ‘unique’ names…
