Ngahere Korowai Collective Hui ๐ŸŒฟ

We're heading into winter and thought we'd do something a little different for this collective hui. We've teamed up with Te Uru Rakau NZ Forestry Service, to bring a workshop focussed on the future of our native forests - how they grow, regenerate, and shape our whenua over the coming decades. ๐ŸŒฑ

This hui is FREE and open to our wider community, so please share with anyone who cares about our ngahere, kaitiakitanga and restoring native ecosystems!

We can't wait to catch-up with some of you, and meet some more of you!

We are very sad to announce that our chair, Alan Livingston, passed away on Sunday evening.

Alan has been a part of our QEII whฤnau since 2020, when he was appointed to our board of directors by the Minister of Conservation, however his connection with QEII dates back far longer. Alan was a dedicated covenant owner, with two covenants on his familyโ€™s farm on the slopes of Mt Pirongia. In 2023, he took on the mantle of chair of our board.

Alan has deftly led our board, and his passion for conservation alongside farming and genuine care for the people of QEII was always clear. The news of his passing has been a shock to us all.

Our thoughts are particularly with his family at this time.

Rest easy, Alan.

Tonight, Jon and Fiona Sherlock have been named Waikato Regional Supreme Winners at the Ballance Farm Environment Awards.

Judges described them as "a powerhouse coupleโ€ฆ demonstrating a winning combination of profitability and environmental outcomes.โ€

Farming sheep and beef on 660ha of steep hill country, the Sherlocks are proving innovation and technology can unlock win-win solutions - building a productive, resilient farm while retiring sensitive land and protecting waterways.

A huge congratulations to a farming family leading transformational change in Waikato. ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ‘
