Voice For Life

Voice For Life Promoted by Voice for Life, 209 Victoria Avenue, Whanganui. Speaking out for the rights of New Zealand's unborn and elderly since 1970.

From the moment of conception, a unique, separate and real human life has been created. In New Zealand, pregnancy can be a time of great anxiety - especially since approximately 1 in 4 new lives ends in abortion. However, the decision to deliberately end a pregnancy is life-changing. A woman once pregnant has lost her child, and a child conceived is never born. Our vision is for a nation which is

safe for all its people from conception until natural death. Join your local Voice for Life branch here: http://voiceforlife.org.nz/get-involved/join/

Keep your baby, or… Adopt it out.
“They’re not presenting it unless she goes looking for it — that’s not informed consent,” Ellen Brumder from Open Adoption NZ says.

True choice means being fully informed. Yet many women say adoption was never discussed with them — unless they went searching for it themselves.
But if it’s not part of the conversation… is it really a choice?

“The tragedy isn’t just that abortion happens — it’s that so many women are never told they have a third choice,” says Ellen Brumder from Open Adoption NZ.

In New Zealand, many women facing an unplanned pregnancy are presented with two options — parent or terminate.
But what if there’s more to the conversation?

Open adoption offers a third path — one where a child can live, and a mother can remain part of their story.

For many, it’s simply never mentioned.
That’s worth talking about.

Unplanned and unwanted pregnancies don't have to result in abortion. There are other options! There are stories of women choosing adoption and not living with any regrets. Adoption is a better option.

If you don't have all the info, how can you be fully informed? Adoption can be a loving option

It's a conversation New Zealand needs to have.
For Ellen and Nick Brumder, adoption has been part of their lives for decades — walking alongside women facing unplanned pregnancies and seeing the outcomes over time.

Their concern? Too many women in New Zealand are never told that open adoption is even an option.

In our latest blog, they unpack:
• Why adoption has become harder in New Zealand
• Why it’s often missing from the conversation
• What open adoption actually looks like today
• And the real impact it can have for women and children

Adoption really can be a loving option.

When a parent chooses euthanasia to provide for their children. That's not the type of world we want to live in. But that's what is happening with euthanasia operating in NZ. A second experienced New Zealand doctor is speaking out with help from Voice For Life, compelled by the awful realities euthanasia has introduced. Euthanasia is not care.

When euthanasia becomes the preference because it's the only option, then it isn't a choice at all. A mother pursues euthanasia so her daughter can keep the house. An experienced whistleblower doctor has come forward to advocate for change - Listen to the full interview on Voice For Life's Pulse podcast, out everywhere

“Once you say it’s okay… the criteria must extend over time.”

A New Zealand doctor who has experienced the shifting landscape of euthanasia and assisted su***de being legalised within the country is concerned over what sceptics call the ‘slippery slope’. In reality, that slope is what happens.

Once the state accepts that some lives can be ended because of suffering… it becomes very difficult to justify where that line stays.

If it’s acceptable for one person nearing death, why not someone slightly earlier? If it’s based on suffering — who decides which suffering counts?

It’s already happening overseas; eligibility has expanded beyond terminal illness into other forms of suffering.
Not because people intended it to, but because the logic pushes in that direction.

And over time, something else happens… It becomes an easier option, not just for individuals, but for systems under pressure. Ending life can start to look like the simplest solution.
