The general elections are happening in Aotearoa. This year, there are more barriers to overcome than usual. The wero is set. This is our opportunity to choose leaders who share our values 🌊

🗓️ Enrol by 25 October. There is no more enrolling on the day. You must be enrolled 3 weeks before Election day.

Pacific Climate Warrior Bethany Mataiti will be joining Green Party Co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick alongside other experts, for a practical kōrero about how Aotearoa can move towards real action on climate: through smarter economic choices, fairer trade rules, stronger legal tools, and leadership willing to act.

Makaliʻi, Mataalii, Matali’i, Matari’i, Matariki

The common name of Matariki is shared throughout much of Te Moana nui a Kiwa.

In Aotearoa Māori believe that appearance of Matariki in the morning sky in mid-winter marks the Māori New Year, or Te Mātahi o te Tau.

Last night our Te Whanganui a Tara team celebrated Matariki together in a weave and wananga session with Te Papa Tongarewa, Aotearoa’s national museum. Thank you to all who joined us!

It was an exciting night as our 3 new warriors got to join us as we all learned the art of weaving whetū. We were also lucky to have a New Zealand Sign Language interpreter present for our panel session!

As our team set intentions for Te Mātahi o te tau, we remember those who have passed, spend time with our whānau (especially with some shared kai) and start planting seeds for the future.

We continue fighting for a world that is free from reliance on fossil fuels. We will fight for justice and make big polluters pay. We know that our fight for the Pacific is a fight for us all.

Mānawatia a Matariki!

Our PCW team recently gathered to work through our plans for the rest of the year! We were also joined by some new and younger members. Top of mind for us all is the upcoming General Election in Aotearoa 🗳️

We will be encouraging our Pacific communities to vote and have their say - we all want a world where we can thrive, not just survive.

We are not drowning, we are fighting.

Last week our city was hit by a severe weather event which resulted in 1 death. You may know a state of emergency was declared; this means there was a significant risk to human life.

We know that climate change means storms like these are going to happen,and more often too.

This is our offering for Climate Festival Pōneke, a collaborative effort from community climate groups to learn, connect and act!!

Join us in collaboration with Oxfam Aotearoa on Tuesday 5 May at two/fiftyseven Level 2/57 Willis Street as we come together to listen, create, and share knowledge. Kai will be provided
