We are very lucky to have Ruslan Gorovyi in Wellington not only for the Saturday 25th at the The Undercurrent but also Friday 24th for another special event!
A charity documentary screening of "Moshchun: The Diary of Liudmyla Oleksandrivna" will run at the Massey University 10A02 Cinema at 6 pm next Friday 24th April.
A powerful and deeply personal story of an elderly woman who, during the 2022 battles for Kyiv, found herself on the front line in her own home.
She witnessed everything. Helped Ukrainian defenders. Spoke to the enemy. And documented it all in her diary.
A firsthand account of war, dignity, and human choice.
Language: the film is in Ukrainian language with English subtitles.
Don’t miss this. A story that must be seen and heard.
📅 Date: 24 April
📍 Location: Massey University, 10A02 Cinema, Block 10, Mount Cook, Wellington
All proceeds from tickets going to Ukraine. Koha welcomed.
About the Director:
Ruslan is a Ukrainian director, author, and founder of the Children Search Service, a project that helps locate Ukrainian children unlawfully deported to russia. After losing an eye, he was unable to serve in the armed forces and instead dedicated his work to helping civilians affected by russia’s war against Ukraine.
For more than a decade, Ruslan has documented the human stories of the war while directly supporting vulnerable families across Ukraine. Today he assists over 200 households in Kyiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Kharkiv regions — mostly elderly people, single mothers, and families whose loved ones are in russian captivity. Over the past winter alone, his team delivered 56 truckloads of firewood to families who would otherwise have had no way to heat their homes.
