More news on Strathmore state housing. The letter shows 99 new state homes built by June 2027, and 6 homes refurbished in the last 2 years.

Sounds good until I think there are over 600 households on the wait list in Wellington for a place to live right now.

Its essential to keep the Nuku St land to build more homes. Use your vote wisely

Devastating news today that Nuku Street is for sale. There were 39 public homes planned for this site.

At last something we could vote for pledges to spend $3 billion on 6000 new state houses over the next 4 years. Yes please they are sorely needed

Labour is promising to create more jobs by building homes, improving classrooms and repairing hospitals at a total cost of more than $4 billion.

40 people sleeping rough into long term stable and affordable housing, such great work. Now time for Government to back it up with more public housing

This year, Dwell and DCM Wellington have worked together through the Housing First programme to move 40 people from rough sleeping into secure homes. That's a significant milestone and one that's making a visible difference in our communities.

Housing First works because a home provides the stability people need to focus on other areas of their lives.

One young Housing First tenant has taken their new tenancy incredibly seriously. They're studying, working, keeping in touch with our team and taking responsibility for their obligations. If rent is going to be late, they let us know. If something needs attention, they reach out.

Another tenant had been in their home for just three weeks when a tenancy inspection was due. Our team arrived expecting to see someone still settling in. Instead, they found a home that was meticulously cared for – everything in its place. For our tenancy team, it was a sign that the tenant valued their home and respected the opportunity which meant a great deal to them.

We're proud of this milestone, and even prouder of the people who are turning these houses into homes.
