Hey BRUH team, we need your help.

We’ve got an exciting opportunity to collaborate with local body organisations to repair and re-home some of Upper Hutt’s unwanted bicycles.
There’s approximately 60 bikes available at this stage of every shape, size and condition.

I’m thinking of potential partnerships with schools, youth groups, fitness groups or new immigrant communities that may have the want or need for some free bikes.

Can anyone help with idea’s, contacts, donations of more bikes/bike parts or even assistance on the mechanical’s? Please let me know if you can help.

After a little tlc and a couple of shakedown rides these bikes are off to new homes and new adventures.

One is going to a parent who wants to ride with their kids again and the other one is helping with a leg injury re-hab where running isn’t possible.

The tip shop delivers again. I just picked up this early 90’s Giant Yukon for $25.

I was surprised by the fact it had air in the tyres, oil on the chain and brakes that actually worked.

It climbed up the Zig Zag track pretty well and the gearing was ok. The descent was pretty hairy with 30 year old tyres, no suspension and brakes that were only a suggestion at best.
The best part of the bike was undoubtedly the “Brahma bar’s”. Basically narrow, flat handle bars with built in bar ends.
Bring back Brahma bars I say.

Just tuning and testing a couple of donated bikes up Canon Point this morning before rehoming them.
“Julio Iguaneos” the 92 Giant Iguana did well with typical Giant reliability and efficiency.
“Sidey ” the 91 Morrison Sidewinder was more of a challenge with only 12 hard gears and terrible brakes.
No injuries to bike or body fortunately.

Bike storage. After refurbishing the workshop I desperately needed a cheap, effective bike storage solution to tidy away the fleet. “You tube is your friend” is a saying we hear a lot and it is true sometimes. So after some brief research and a trip to Mega this is the result.

Fantastic morning and views at the top of Cannon Point this morning.
First ride on my new to me 1984 Morrison Sidewinder. One of the first “mountain bikes “ to be manufactured in Hastings and sold in NZ. It was fun to ride and terrifying all at the same time.
