A huge thank you to everyone who has donated formal wear so far! The dresses arriving at Re-Source have been absolutely stunning, and every one means another young person gets to feel amazing on their big night.
We are still building our collection, and we would love more. If you have formal wear gathering dust in the wardrobe, we would be so grateful to give it a new life. We are after both girls' and boys' formals: dresses, suits, jackets, shirts, ties, dress shoes, all of it welcome.
Beautiful, pre-loved, and ready to make someone's night. Thank you for helping us dress our rangatahi for the occasion.

They will still be recycled but now the Hastings Host Lions will turn them into financial support for Kidney Kids! 🤩

Thank you Veronica for being an expert Re-Sourcer!
After 5 years donating, Veronica is well attuned to how we flex to the community's needs. We are not an opshop, we address specific needs so she uses her know-how to rustle up fantastic collections like this. The can tabs come from several friends who she has encouraged to join the movement.
Veronica is one superstar among many and we are incredibly grateful for all our supporters. We would love to do a shout out for you all! 💚

Last year will filled over 2000 orders! Watch the video to see what it takes to make a single order happen for Wairoa.
Firstly, we want to send what is needed, not what we happen to have available at the time. This is crucially important and why we often ask the community for specific types of items.
Behind every order is a whole lot of work from the Re-Source team. For this run that meant arranging collection of all the items we needed including: 32 blankets and 56 pillows sorted, counted, weighed, laundered and sewn, 190 towels, bathmats and facecloths folded and packed, and 82 sqm of carpet collected from the donor, brought to the hub, recorded and ready to roll.
Add in loads of extras like new pyjamas, new hoodies, a vacuum and nappies, plus a stop at the Red Cross Curtain Bank to drop off recntly donated curtains and pick-up freshly washed and lined curtains for the Wairoa Curtain Bank, and the van was well and truly packed!
A full tank of fuel, a safety check, and they were off. Every item is one less thing headed to landfill and one more thing helping support the wellbeing of a family in Wairoa. 💚

This work has a cost attached to it. The fuel, road user charge and insurance are significant barriers to a small charity like Re-Source and we are very grateful to the Pam Torbett Charitable Trust for their support in making this connection a reality. Thank you!

Bed sheets are one of the things we are asked for most often and at this time of year they go at super quickly.
As the cold really sets in, that gap matters. A clean, warm bed is not a luxury. It means better sleep, better health, fewer sick days, and the quiet dignity of climbing into a bed that feels cared for.
So this winter, we are asking for your help again. If you have bed sheets you can spare, we would love to rehome them.

All sizes are needed, single right through to king
New or gently used is perfect, as long as they are clean and in good condition
Flat sheets, fitted sheets and duvet covers are all welcome.

Every set you pass on goes to a local family through our partner network, and keeps usable textiles out of landfill at the same time. That is the heart of what we do at Re-Source: tackling hardship and waste together.

Thank you, Hawke's Bay. A spare set of sheets from you could be a warm night's sleep for someone who really needs one.

This winter, simple is everything. ♻️
We help people who are going through a hard time, and they need warm basics to get through the moment. Space is tight, so the more essentials we can hold, the more people we can help.
Yes please: track pants, warm trousers, hoodies, jumpers, long-sleeved tops, flannel shirts, merino, coats.
Not right now: fashion forward, lighter clothing, or anything that needs trying on or fitting. With no retail outlet, and no way for people to try them on these are hard to rehome and slow us down.
Last year Jackie rehomed 25,000+ items from this one small room!
Thank you for helping us keep the resources flowing💚

Every bit of space matters at our little Hub. That's one of the reasons we are so grateful for the thoughtfulness put into donations. Too many unusable items slows us down, costs us money and reduces how much we can do for the community.
We are always ready to talk over what can be put to good use, just drop us an email at [email protected]

If you share our goal of getting more support to the community while reducing waste become a Re-Source Guardian today!
Every bit of support, no matter how small, helps keep us going and could one day see us move us into a bigger and better home.
