Sorry about the silence on this page, folks. I am recovering from a concussion i sustained mid November. Starting to make some progress now and I will follow up and connect with all who preesented and participated in our workshops, when "I've got my head back" sufficiently!

In the meantime, here is a fantastic article about bioregionalism, that is well linked to what the "Te Atatu South Climate Conversations" were /are all about.

Try it, you might like it. And it may just save the world.

Thanks to everyone who came along on Monday evening for our FINAL Te Atatu South Climate Conversation (for now in any case)! Great discussion, interactions, and connecting... what this is all about!

The presentation was engaging, eye-opening and great ideas for minimising our food waste - and much more! Thank you so much Amanda Hookham!

I've attached the video reel of the presentation (with permission) here..

Edmonton Scouts Group (Andrew Dyson)'s slides as presented and discussed on Monday 25th November! Check them out.. 😊

Thank you so much Andrew Dyson (Edmonton Scouts Group) for your inspiring presentation and Climate Conversation topics on Monday evening!

With several initiatives already happening (stream cleaning, and trapping alongside Te Wai o Pareira) and plans to invite and involve other youth groups (e.g. church groups, St. Johns Ambulance youth) and the local Te Atatu South community, this was a great session.

We had a lively discussion about the content in his slides (will upload shortly). And watch for Te Atatu South local environmental activities announced in Andrew's new FB group... . https://www.facebook.com/groups/tasenviromentalactivities/

We had such a great learning and doing time last night, in our "Upcycle and refashion your clothing" workshop.

Thank you very much The Mindful Mender ! You're an inspiration. 🥰♻️✅
Here are some photos of two of the garments we worked on. One jacket was de-hooded, and a 100% wool jacket with many moth holes will get "polka dots" embroidered on each hole...🤗

🙌👍🙏Thanks to Jaya Muddaiah for presenting a really interesting session and to all who came along on Monday to hear about "Doughnut Economics" and how putting it into practice benefits people and the earth.

Even participants who already knew about Doughnut Economics gained new insights, and some found the whole concept and what the Charity Doughnut Economics Advocated NZ (DEANZ), the DEANZ Repair Café and DEANZ "Doughnut Hubs" are doing 'inspirational'.

People join the initiatives for different reasons too: some to help the environment, some for the social interactions and more.

As soon as we are able, we'll share the content of Jaya's presentation.

If any of this appeals, you can join either of these initiatives as a volunteer, come along to have some of your household items fixed and kept out of landfill, or even become part of the DEANZ Board. Just let us know and we'll put you in touch with the right people.

And did you know ... that the Wellbeing Economy Alliance Aotearoa New Zealand is running an online Seminar on Nov 6th, ALL about Doughnut Economics in NZ..? I'll put the link to that in the comments.
