The Wish 4 Fish Charity

Access for all! Our country has some of the most beautiful natural resources in the world and we believe all New Zealanders should be able to enjoy this.

We help people with health and wellness challenges get out on the water and enjoy the freedom and pleasure of our ocean waters along with inspiring change in attitude to accessibility and inclusivity across our communities. Fishing and boating are some of New Zealand’s most popular recreational activities, which those with physical and mental disabilities are currently not being catered for. To sh

are these experiences with our wider community, we arrange charity trips for individuals with physical and mental disabilities and their carer’s, who are often family members. The benefits from our trips go beyond a day out on the water. It provides our Charity’s beneficiaries the sense of what can be achieved despite some of the most difficult circumstances they experience. A day out on the water can bring so much joy and can provide our beneficiaries with lifelong memories – we witness this every trip – we call these magic moments. Something significant happens when people are empowered to go fishing. They move from being a beneficiary, to being a provider. This is a fundamental shift in identity, which allows them to not be defined through the lens of their disability or life challenges. When paired with a strong sense of adventure, comradery and achievement, the positive outcomes, excitement and lift in self-esteem is tangible. You can see it in the faces, eyes and body language of those on board.

Open For Nominations Now ‼
We're taking nominations now for our Waikato/Coromandel trips in November.

Do you know someone, an individual or an organisation that would benefit from our charity, giving beneficeries time out on the water, aboard our fully accessible catamaran?

Our boat can take 45 able bodied people, or 6-10 wheelchairs plus caregivers.

We are looking for individuals who are able to help drive our charity in your region. We are looking for those with exceptional organisational skills of any type.

We can't do this alone, and want to make a super successful trip to the region, across our fundraising events, beneficeries trips and corporate events.

Thames - We Are Looking For you ‼

We are running a Fishing Competition in November, when we have our boat up in your region, and we need some help.

We are looking for volunteers to help with briefing on the 20th, and then the competition and prizegiving on the 21st.

Are you someone who can help get the word out about our event and/or charity? Are you someone who can help us set up the event or pack it down? Are you a wizz on the BBQ selling sausages to raise money for us? We'd love to hear from you if you have time or skills to help us.
