Brennagh's journey highlighted the gross breach of human rights.. She exposed a Silent Genocide and there's nothing we can do. This page was started by a dear friend and caregiver of Brennagh's for 8 years. It was started as a fundraiser when Brennagh lost over 3/4s of her bowel. Brennagh has an underlying condition Trisomy 18. Our medical people cannot find another child in the world to compare h
er to or seek advice from. It's been four years since some amazing ground breaking surgeries were performed on Brennagh. From Pamerston North Hospital's life saving intervention, Starship Hospital's PICU and HDU then transferrend to Wellington Children's Hospital for the following 6 months. What was most unusual about this situation is Brennagh actually survived when it was believed she didn't have enough viable bowel left after the surgery thus leaving her on life support gravely ill expected to expire within hours. Not the first time Miss Brennagh cheated death. Recently we have had new ongoing problems with the bowel. However it is currently beyond medical science to investigate effectively opting to send us home to figure it all out. No doubt they expect death to visit upon us again....the reality is DEATH visits us all sooner or later. Anyhow all these experiences have taught me no to roll over and die. It won't bring you closer to finding a solution if you don't believe there's one. And thankfully I believe there is always an answer. it may not be the one you want or expected but you always get your answer. Now I am a researching looking for a way forward when a major bowel surgery recipient's bowel wants to fail and there is no more surgery and no one wants to investigate after 7 days. Mostly because they don't know what to do. We're ok with that, we have to be. The current DHB plan is check in with the paeds team during the day if we have a medical emergency and during the night take our chances with ED. I expect to have this reviewed...as soon as the boss get back from leave. Meanwhile, we take our chances home alone performing 24/7 medical care and intervention ourselves, keeping notes, researching and investigating medical files for a clue. WISH US LUCK :)
