This week, Bengali people in Aotearoa New Zealand and around the world celebrate Pohela Boishakh, the Bengali New Year.

Pohela Boishakh marks new beginnings and is a time of cultural and spiritual significance. People often wear traditional clothing, join colourful community processions, enjoy folk music and dance, and share festive food with family and friends.

At the Ministry, we recognise the importance of cultural traditions in helping Ethnic Communities feel connected, supported, and proud of who they are.

We wish everyone celebrating a year filled with wellbeing, connection, and hope.

শুভ নববর্ষ, ১৪৩৩!

​বাংলাদেশ অ্যাসোসিয়েশন অফ বে অফ প্লেন্টি (BABOPI)-র পক্ষ থেকে নিউজিল্যান্ড এবং বিশ্বজুড়ে ছড়িয়ে থাকা সমস্ত বাংলাদেশি ভাই-বোনদের জানাই নতুন বছরের আন্তরিক শুভেচ্ছা। ‘পহেলা বৈশাখ’ শুধু একটি নতুন বছরের শুরু নয়; এটি আমাদের ঐতিহ্য, সংস্কৃতি, এবং বাঙালি সত্তার উৎসব।

​আসুন, এই নতুন বছরে আমরা পুরোনো সব গ্লানি এবং দুঃখ ভুলে, নতুন আশায় এবং উদ্দীপনায় নিজেদের সতেজ করি। আমাদের সকলের জীবনে বয়ে আসুক সুখ, শান্তি, এবং অনাবিল সমৃদ্ধি। আমাদের সবার সংস্কৃতি এবং বন্ধন আরও সুদৃঢ় হোক।
