He taonga te wareware ✨

Memory holds our stories, our people and the moments that matter to us.

Dementia can affect more than memory — it can impact the whole whānau. Supporting someone through changes in memory, communication or behaviour can be challenging, and sometimes it can be hard to know where to start.

This is for the whānau supporting someone living with dementia — to help us understand, stay connected and remember that the person we love is still there.

If you’re unsure what to do or where to go for support, Tūhoe Hauora can help point you in the right direction and connect you with the appropriate services.

You don't have to navigate it alone 🫶🏽

Take a minute to check in with yourself.

How are you really doing? 💭

We’re often so busy looking after everyone else that we forget to check in with ourselves.

Notice how you’re feeling, be honest with yourself, and if things aren’t feeling right — you don’t have to carry it on your own.

A little check-in can make a big difference. 🫶🏽

This month, let’s make checking in a normal part of looking after ourselves and each other.

Need someone to talk to? Free call or text 1737 anytime, 24/7 for confidential support from a trained counsellor or peer support worker.

Tūhoe Schools Ki-o-Rahi Tournament 🏅

Our Tūhoe kura came together through Ki-o-Rahi — giving our tamariki the opportunity to connect and participate in a sport grounded in mātauranga Māori.

More than just the game, the day was about creating space for our mokopuna to have a voice, make decisions and shape the kaupapa they’re part of.

E mihi nui ana ki ngā kura, kaiako, whānau i tae mai ki te tautoko i ngā tamariki. 🫶🏽

🌿 Let’s check in.

A simple kōrero, a catch-up or a “you algood?” can go a long way.

A little kōrero, a laugh, a cuppa or just spending time with someone can mean more than we realise.

Because sometimes, the person who says they’re algood might not be feeling that way underneath it all.

So this month, as we raise awareness around su***de prevention, let’s keep it simple — check in with your people, make time for kōrero, and let them know they’re not alone. ❤️

If you’re not feeling algood yourself, you don’t have to carry it on your own. Reach out to someone you trust, call or text 1737, or come and have a kōrero with us at Tūhoe Hauora. We’re here to tautoko and help connect you with the right support.

🚨 RHEUMATIC FEVER AWARENESS

Rheumatic fever can start with a sore throat and, if left untreated, can cause permanent damage to the heart.

This is a reminder to get sore throats checked early, especially for our tamariki and rangatahi.

👉 If your tamaiti has a sore throat, please don’t wait it out — get it checked.

If in doubt, get it checked. Early treatment can help protect the heart. ❤️

🌱 Every dream begins with someone asking, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”

As our tamariki return to kura, we’re reminded that behind every answer is a future waiting to unfold. Future kaiako, doctors, builders, artists, scientists, māmā, pāpā, leaders, kaitiaki, and changemakers. ✨

Our role as a hāpori is to nurture those dreams, walk alongside them, and create spaces where our tamariki know they can aspire to anything. Their potential is limitless when it’s grounded in identity, surrounded by aroha, and uplifted by their people. ❤️

Here’s to a new school term filled with learning, growth, confidence, and big dreams.
