Diverting food scraps in large quantities is easy when you join City to Farm!

The majority of the businesses that are using City to Farm produce large volumes of food scraps. Our Wheelie bin options are simple to use as well as affordable.

Theres no separating food scraps, a bokashi style system is capable of taking all food scraps including breads, meats and citrus.

Headstart in Upper Harbor have been using City to Farm since May 2025. They primarily use the bin for fruit scraps, napkins, and any leftovers from morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea.

Their team finds the service very easy to use. It is especially effective for processing scraps that cannot be added to our worm bins. The tamariki are involved in the educational process every day—from collecting the scraps and taking them to the compost bin to pushing the food down and sprinkling the zing on top.

Headstart said it is rewarding to know they are taking another step toward sustainability and reducing their contribution to climate change.

Blendit's Green Start

We love hearing from our local businesses! Say hello to the team at Blendit, who are making their fresh start even greener with the City to Farm project.

Blendit has been using our service for about three months and they are loving the simplicity of the process. They use their bin for all vegetable and fruit scraps, including avocado skins and kiwi fruit skins. They describe the process as "fast, efficient, and environmentally friendly" for getting rid of their waste, and they've been impressed with the service for bin drop-off and waste pick-up.

Check out their new business at www.blendit.nz!
