An invitation to a choir workshop being held in the wharenui (carved meeting house) Te Papa-i-Ouru of the marae at Ohinemutu on the shore of Lake Rotorua.

We are privileged to have Jenna from Japan as the choir director for this singing workshop. Jenna's organisation, GQ Family, runs gospel style choirs in 32 locations in Japan and has 2,000 members. Her motto is “Sing in unity, live in peace” and her passion is to reframe gospel music into powerful and joyful choir music for all, regardless of their ethnicity or religion. In 2023, she was selected as one of the directors to lead a 200-voice workshop choir at the Mziki Gospel Festival, Africa's first international Gospel choir festival, held in Kenya. Jenna relocated to Rotorua with her family in 2019, hoping to give the power of singing back to the local community.

We are grateful for funding for this choir workshop to Te Tatau o Te Arawa who also secured the outstanding venue for the event.

This is a free event and all ages are welcome. To register, follow this link:
