🧶💗 EASY NO-SEW CHILD’S BEANIE 💗🧶

After the lovely response to the adult beanie, here’s a simple child-size version (approx. age 5–10) 😊

This beanie is worked from the top down in joined rounds, so there’s no side seam to sew up.

US crochet terms used

YOU WILL NEED
🧶 Worsted/Aran yarn
🪝 5 mm crochet hook
✂️ Scissors
🪡 Yarn needle

STITCHES
ch = chain
sl st = slip stitch
hdc = half double crochet

✨ Note: Ch 1 at the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch.

💗 PATTERN

Round 1:
Make a magic ring. Ch 1, work 8 hdc into the ring. Join with a sl st.
(8 sts)

Round 2:
Ch 1, 2 hdc in each stitch around. Join.
(16 sts)

Round 3:
Ch 1, 1 hdc in next stitch, 2 hdc in next stitch. Repeat around. Join.
(24 sts)

Round 4:
Ch 1, 1 hdc in next 2 stitches, 2 hdc in next stitch. Repeat around. Join.
(32 sts)

Round 5:
Ch 1, 1 hdc in next 3 stitches, 2 hdc in next stitch. Repeat around. Join.
(40 sts)

📏 CHECK THE SIZE

The top circle should measure roughly 5½–6 inches (14–15 cm) across.

Once you have reached the size needed, stop increasing and begin the plain rounds.

💡 Children’s head sizes, yarn and crochet tension can vary. If possible, measure the child's head or check the fit as you go. If your circle is considerably smaller than expected after Round 5, check your yarn, hook size and tension before adding any further increases.

FOLLOWING ROUNDS:
Ch 1, hdc in each stitch around. Join.

Continue without increasing until the hat measures roughly 7–7½ inches (18–19 cm) from the crown to the bottom edge, or until you reach the desired length.

Fasten off and weave in the ends.

💡 Sizing tip: Checking the fit as you go will give the best result.

I would just like to welcome all the wonderful woman who have come on board to donate their time, love and support to my charity. “Blanketed with love” was born just over 2 years ago and I am so grateful for its growth since that day as growth means more beautiful handmade pieces going out to those most vulnerable and as we all know the need is growing at a scary rate but we will continue to do what we do best, to gift, support and care unconditionally to those less fortunate than us, those that suffer hardship beyond our imagination and to all our beautiful innocent children….with much love and gratitude, thank you all ❤️❤️❤️

Another bundle of goodies head out the door to help our precious ones of Canterbury along with some secondhand items that were kindly donated. A huge thank you to all the wonderful women who gifted their time, love and support 🙏❤️

A lovely day spent with our group sewing in ends to get more blankets out to our precious ones. I would like to thank everyone who has made it possible to gift these beautiful items and a very special shout out to Jean who is 97 and knits all the lovely strips for us which we join together also my wonderful neighbour Rose who has sewn all the children’s clothes and continues to knit and sew blankets together at the age of 92…. You ladies are amazing ❤️
