Tokoroa Police are seeking the public’s assistance as they take a firm enforcement approach to ongoing unlawful and dangerous motorbike activity in the community. 🏍️
Police are continuing to respond to persistent issues involving motorbikes (particularly dirt bikes) being ridden in a manner that is reckless, unlawful, and puts others at risk.
This behaviour will not be tolerated.
Riders are frequently travelling at speed, riding in groups, and using roads, footpaths, and public reserves with little regard for the safety of others. This creates a serious and unacceptable risk to the public.
While this is an issue being seen in other towns across New Zealand, Tokoroa Police are committed to holding those responsible to account.
💬 “To do that, we need the community’s help. We are not just interested in the offending — we are focused on identifying offenders and taking action.”
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward. Key details that will assist enforcement action include:
• Names or nicknames of those involved
• Addresses where the motorbikes are being kept, or where they are coming and going from
• Photos or video footage of the bikes or riders
Any other information that can help identify those responsible
Without this information, it is significantly harder to take enforcement action. With it, we can and will act.
Anti-social road user behaviour should be reported immediately by calling 111 or make a report via 105 if it is after the fact. Information about those involved is critical in stopping the behaviour long-term and can be reported through 105 or provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111 or online.
