Gardeners this time of year are normally enjoying the first flush of flowers and all the new blooms standing out in their gardens! You don't have to be a member of the rose society to enter some roses at the National Rose Show this year in Pukekohe, as there are some classes for those of you who may wish to add some of your roses to the show! For the general public there is a class for roses divided into different colours... and all it takes is one rose bloom in a vase (the society provides the vase) to enter. If you have some great roses in the garden at the moment why not have some fun with them and take a punt. Spaces are limited. For more information or to contact us visit www.nationalroseshow.nz

Two and a bit weeks out from the National Rose Show - Roses and Romance and this is just a reminder to Rosarians wishing to Register for the weekend (Dinner, Sunday Ramble Bus trip etc) that registrations close this Friday the 1st of November. Last rose entries close 14th November.

The Barfoot and Thompson Franklin Hospice Garden Ramble is on 16 & 17 November 2024, showcasing gardens in the Franklin area.

This time for the Miniature Roses. How cool are these? Some classes to get creative with! Candles, Large and Small pairings, Wine Glasses, an arrangement in white or cream, Jewellery Boxes and Lego!

Of course everyone loves a basket of roses! Class 54 of the Roses & Romance National Rose Show is just that! "You Carry My Heart" is a basket of roses with other flowers and foliage to fit with the theme! It must be able to be carried, have the handle showing and be designed for all round viewing. If you are into floral arrangements in baskets this could be one for you!

Another great class from the National Show Schedule features NZ bred roses. There are some fantastic roses that have been bred in New Zealand over the years, with Sam McGredy lV, Rob Somerfield and Bob Matthews being three of our top breeders that immediately spring to mind. If you have some of these roses in your garden Class 42 could be a great class for you to enter!

Each different stage is judged in it's own class(es).

Did you know that you don't have to be a rose society member to enter into some of the classes at the National Show? Sure there will be some top exhibitors there entering several of the top classes, but we also have some great classes for members of the public (and for kids!) if they wish to have a....
