Planning to get out on or in the water soon? Make sure you know where your marine protection areas are and what you can and can’t do before heading out.

A Controlled Area Notice (CAN) is in place in Te Rāwhiti Inlet with legal restrictions placed on some boating and fishing activities to limit the spread of Exotic Caulerpa. For fishing rules download the NZ Fishing rules app, text 9889 with the name of a species and they will respond with bag and size limit for that species or check www.mpi.govt.nz/fishing-aquaculture/recreational-fishing/fishing-rules/auckland-kermadec-fishing-rules/
