Waiheke Health Trust The Waiheke Health Trust is a Charitable Trust providing a wide range of community and medical health services to Waiheke Island residents and visitors.

The Waiheke Health Trust is a major provider of community and primary health services on the island. The trust was formed in 1991 and is for everyone on Waiheke. The Waiheke Health Trust offers a wide range of services which are predominantly funded by contracts with the Ministry of Health, Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand (replacing DHBs in 2022), ACC and other major health funders. The Waiheke

Health Trust also raises funds to fill funding shortfalls for equipment and infrastructure, for example new vehicles for community nursing teams and X-ray equipment, which is not funded.

Waiheke Health Trust was thrilled to be able to send our amazing island sonographer Sam to the Australian Sonographers Association's recent conference on the Gold Coast!

The ASA annual conference is the largest gathering of sonographers in the world, and Sam came back absolutely buzzing with new learnings and techniques to support our Waiheke patients.

We feel so fortunate to be able to provide such an outstanding service for the island and are really grateful to Sam for her dedication to its ongoing quality.

How is this for a treat???

A grateful Waiheke Health Trust client popped in to our office with a beautiful card and generous donation that they directed us to use 'for a party'. ❤️

And then when we were organising the party, our friends at Charlie Farley's offered mate's rates and a $100 top up to the donation to show THEIR appreciation for the Trust.

We love serving such a kind and thoughtful community and send a big thanks to all the clients who stop in with kind words, biscuits, donations to the Trust, fruit, etc - you make our wonderful jobs even sweeter!

We had a magical night at the Omiha Hall - Omiha Welfare and Recreation Society, OWRS celebrating the career and the retirement of our beloved Linda Hodson.

It was incredibly inspiring to hear about Linda's life of service - from her family, fellow midwives and nurses, the doctors and medical staff she has worked with, the Waiheke Local Board and, of course, from the families whose babies she has brought into the world.

Waiheke Health Trust is deeply grateful for the essential role that Linda has played in our organisation and in our community through her skill, advocacy, compassion, honesty and deep care and commitment to women's and family health. We wish her a long, happy and healthy retirement.

It's Day 5 of us sharing how easy our new website makes it to access comprehensive health services on Waiheke and for our final feature we're pointing you in the direction of our Ostend Medical Centre patient page.

When you enrol with Ostend Medical as your primary care provider, you not only receive subsidised GP and Nurse Practitioner consultations, you also have access to things like free wellbeing and health coach support, cost-effective skin cancer surgery and on-the-day management of urgent medical needs.

Not only that, you're in the Waiheke Health Trust whānau, which means easy access to x-ray and ultrasound, Well Child and Specialist nursing services, Occupational Therapy, Meals on Wheels and more!

While we are proud of everything we do, we believe that the comprehensive nature of our Specialist Community Care may not be equalled in Aotearoa New Zealand. In other words, we are really fortunate, Waiheke!

While the community often sees our Community Nurses zipping to their daily home visits in our fleet of electric cars (thank you, Waiheke Tennis Club!), did you know that we also administer Meals on Wheels, employ Occupational Therapists who can complete home access modifications, provide free speech language therapy and are responsible for all of the palliative care nursing on Waiheke?

And that's not all - from Ostend Medical Centre's community clinics to toe nail care and podiatry, dietetics to home support, and social work to physiotherapy services via Waiheke Physiotherapy, we've got you covered and most services are free if you qualify.

Waiheke Health Trust and Ostend Medical Centre are delighted to introduce our new combined website - https://www.wht.org.nz/

Of course we think that it looks fabulous, but the reason we designed it was to make healthcare easier to navigate and access for our Waiheke community.

For everything from doctor's appointments to paediatric dietician support, foot care for our elderly residents to palliative care, Waiheke Health Trust has you covered and the new website's format makes it incredibly easy to find what you need.

We'll be putting up posts throughout the week to highlight how to use it to navigate care for all ages, but in the meantime, we invite you to just have a good nosey!
