Event #69 at Te Awa had us travelling back to 1969! 🕺✌️

We had parkrunners born in ’69, someone completing their 69th parkrun, Grant looking like he’d come straight from Woodstock 69, and even a special visit from Dazza sporting his Warriors 69 shirt. NICE! 😎

We also welcomed Amanda to the Run Director team for her debut

We’ve got a few roles available over the next few weeks, so if you’ve got a spare hour or two on a Saturday morning throughout October and fancy doing something fun, why not come and join us?

Or maybe you’re injured, not feeling like running or walking, but still want to be part of the parkrun action. Volunteering is a great way to stay involved! 💜

Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or have never volunteered before, we’d love to have you on the team. There are plenty of different roles and we’ll show you what to do.

Milestone Monday 🎉

This week we’re celebrating Gary, who has reached the 25 parkrun milestone! 💜

Gary’s journey actually began way back in 2020, but he’s recently dusted off his barcode and made 2026 his year of parkrun.

Of his 25 parkruns, 21 have been this year, and we’re pretty happy to see that 12 of those have been right here at Te Awa! In fact, Te Awa is now Gary’s most-visited parkrun. 💜

We’re not entirely sure whether having a running-enthusiast brother-in-law has helped turn Saturday mornings into a family affair, but whatever the reason, we love seeing Gary and co joining us so regularly!

Gary’s story is also a great reminder that it’s never too late to pick up your parkrun barcode again. Maybe you registered years ago, did a few parkruns and then life got in the way. Your barcode is still there, and there’s always another Saturday to start again.

So if you’ve got an old parkrun barcode tucked away somewhere, maybe this is your sign to dust it off! 👀

Congratulations Gary on your 25th milestone! We’re very glad you picked parkrun back up again and even happier that Te Awa has become such a regular part of your Saturday mornings.
