Wooo Who ........ counting down the days ...... and hours NOW !!!

WOW .... this time in four weeks it will be almost over!! We have had some ......

...... questions about videos on USB's of the Nationals. If you don't want to know the facts, scroll on to the next post :).

The last Nationals that were livestreamed from Rotorua, files were made available on USB. There has been a lot of issues with playback of the files which has again been raised this year as to whether the USB's will work? The main issue is that USB's are a storage device not a playback device...... perfect for storing and archiving any files both large & small. If you purchased a USB or plan to again purchase this year, you need to copy the files direct to your PC hardrive which has a lot faster read/write capability than most USB's.

There is lots of info online that you can study if you want but some basics are ...... a USB 2 has a read speed up to 30MB/s and USB 3 can range between 15 - 100MB/s. If you plug a USB 3 into a USB 2 slot it can only read at the USB 2 speed. Modern smart TV's are equipped with USB slots and some don't specify what type they have. However they (some) are still not fast enough to replay video files directly off a standard USB stick. Computer Hardrives (mostly SSD) have read speeds from 500 MB/s upwards ..... gaming machines or the like with PCI SATA drives can read upwards to 14,900 MB's so you see a little old (or new) USB stick or flash drive is not up there for playback !! If you want to play the files directly onto a smart TV you need to transfer the files from the slower USB to a Portable SSD (solid state drive) that has fast read/write specs ..... they are expensive to get a good one !!

The video specs ........ the videos are livestreamed/recorded/edited in the HD format .... full frame 1920 x 1080 50i (not 4K as some have asked). A 1 - 2hr video is anywhere between 8 - 12GB in size in the standard H264 format .mp4 video file. To give you an idea, DVD's (most) are capable of holding up to only 4.5 GB of data and were recorded in the older 720 x 560 format compressed as to fit onto a single disc.

The Rotorua Nationals ended up with 6 Edited Highlight videos which were made available on USB. There was approximately 12hrs of highlight videos ...... just under 70GB of data. They were also made available online........ https://vimeopro.com/user125808577/snrrnrnationals2025 for you to download your own personal copies.

In summary ..... the USB's are great and leave you with your own personal copies should you choose not to download the files, but ensure you copy the files to your device if you want to play them back successfully.

COMING UP ...... you can watch "LIVE", re-live and download those MAGIC MOMENTS of the 2026 Rock N Roll Combined Nationals here ....... https://vimeopro.com/craigbain/combinedrocknrollnationals2026

SMALL BEGINNINGS, BIG DREAMS!
Our Rock ’n’ Roll classes started in Ynui last night, and while our group may be small right now, we’re excited about what the future might bring! ❤️

Every great thing has to start somewhere — and sometimes it starts with just a few people, a bit of music, some dancing and plenty of laughs!

We’re looking forward to watching our little group grow, welcoming new faces and creating something really special together.

Small steps today can lead to amazing things tomorrow.

So if you’ve ever thought about giving Rock ’n’ Roll a go — come along and join us! You never know where that first dance might take you! ❤️

Our journey has begun Ynui… and we can’t wait to see where it leads!
