RodBenders Kaikoura Youth Fishing

Rodbenders has had a couple of great weeks fishing. The weather has been amazing and our club has added a new species caught and released! The Thresher Shark had previously been caught on a longline with a large clip, hook and thick line still in its mouth. The club members skilfully removed the tackle and released the shark.

What a weekend in the Marlborough sounds with our awesome Club!
We all learnt so much (even the adults!) from filleting & bleeding fish, working as a team on those tricky sharp hooks, different species of fish (sharks too) and a lot of bird and sea life to watch & learn about.
A huge thanks to Glenn from Barge And Digger Hire - Jones Sounds Mowing as it wouldn’t be possible without him.
Some of our young people had never been fishing on a boat letalone a barge, and Glenn even sorted us somewhere to set up camp, so we are extremely grateful.
We all had an incredible experience and look forward to our next adventure!

A few weeks ago, the lovely people down at Middlehurst Station Farm Store helped us out with their meat supply and expertise to make some sausages for our Fundraiser!
We will be selling a range of different sized sausages at the Xmas Festival on Saturday so please come down and support us!
