Nothing says “we care” quite like a Bellyful Invercargill meal with a side of sourdough.

A HUGE thank you to FlourBro Sourdough Bakery for donating some of their delicious loaves to head out with our Bellyful meals to local families.

It’s support like this that turns a meal into something extra special — warm soup, a hearty dinner, and fresh sourdough on the side? Absolute magic.

Kitchen Team Leaders Wanted – Bellyful Invercargill

We’re on the lookout for a few Kitchen Team Leader Volunteers to help support and guide our legendary Bellyful cooks here in Invercargill. You’ll be working closely with our Cooking Coordinator to help keep things running smoothly (and deliciously!).

Think of yourself as the kitchen conductor - guiding the team, keeping the energy up, and making sure everything is humming along nicely.

What you’ll be doing:
🥄 Supporting and leading a team of amazing volunteers
🥄 Helping create a fun, inclusive, team-focused kitchen vibe
🥄 Keeping an eye on the flow so meals come together like magic - each cook is slightly different

What we’re looking for:
✔️ Comfortable in a kitchen (you don’t need to be a chef – just confident!)
✔️ A natural team player who enjoys bringing people together
✔️ Someone who can keep things ticking along with a calm, positive attitude

The details:
⏰ Around 3–4 hours per cook
📅 Usually Sundays (with some flexibility)
📆 Commitment can be as little as 2–3 times a year

Currently we run around 8 cooks a year, so having a small team of Kitchen Team Leaders means you can share the load and still make a big impact.

Full training is provided around our systems and equipment - we’ll set you up for success!

What an incredible weekend at the Bellyful NZ Hui in Christchurch!

Over 100 volunteers from branches across New Zealand came together for a weekend of connection, learning, inspiration, and celebration.

A huge thank you to all of the amazing sponsors who helped make this weekend possible. Your support allows organisations like Bellyful to continue investing in the people who give so generously to their communities.

We are especially proud of our team members Victoria, Kim, and Toni, who each received a Shining Heart Award, recognising their passion and contribution to Bellyful Invercargill

A special congratulations also to Michelle, who received her Enduring Heart Award for 5 years of service to our branch — an incredible milestone and so well deserved!

Weekends like this remind us how special it is to be part of an organisation that truly values, supports, and invests in its volunteers. We came home feeling inspired, connected, and proud to be part of the Bellyful whānau.

Macaroni March starts today.

Across Aotearoa, people are hosting macaroni dinners, running pasta drives, baking for koha and rallying their workplaces — raising the funds that keep meals going out to families doing it tough.
