Westminster Christian School do hard yards at the restoration. Across 4 years they walk 2 kms to get here. They get muddy. They w**d in tricky places. Carry heavy loads of mulch. Water test. Understand what animals live in the stream. Today they came back to play with the chickens, learn about regenerative practices and have more fun. They’ve wanted to do this for so long. Their teacher, Gail, somehow makes it happen, is always talking with the students, backing their learning. Packing in value. And the students love it. What a neat partnership we have. What a brilliant day to welcome them back. Thank you 🙏, you really are great people making a great impact.

Small businesses invest @$700k into restoring the park. ICB is a valued foundation partner who have accomplished:
- pest animal trapping for three years
- harnessing rainwater to feed our compost and chickens for three years
- supplied renewable energy to pump water to chickens for three years
- from this week, they are hosting a new 6 tonne bioreactors fleet to make more compost.

Manageable, affordable but powerful and consistent climate actions that result in pride, staff happiness, and a new forest. Power to the people. Thank you ICB! You are appreciated and highly valued restoration partners.

Word. Halfway through Volunteer Week and Matt says it all💚🌱✅ Ngā mihi nui amazing Matthew.

Huge thanks to all volunteers. Those who teach us. Our cultural leaders. Their ancestors. Our designers. Youth, who expect change from us and walk their talk. Those with disabilities who devise new approaches to solve our problems. Those who have to work harder to achieve innovative outcomes to share. Prisoners who grow half our natives. Older adults with wisdom to improve services to nature and the future. Those who share strengths, resources and responsibilities. Those who tell our stories. Those who trap. The people who get muddy, wet. Our artists. Our photographers. The IT specialists. Ecological, geographical and social scientists. The talented researchers who generate new insights that inform change. Our youngest people whom we all work hard to protect. Most of all, we thank Papatūānuku for her biodiversity, resilience, patience and knowing. There’s so much hope.

This beautiful ocean is impacted by our large Alexander Oteha catchment in the Upper Waitemata which is impacted by industry and local residents.

What we do in Albany flows to Hauraki Gulf. Our actions to promote fresh water quality matters to wildlife, Iwi, businesses, Aucklanders, visitors and future generations.

We are riddled with pest plants in this unused park space. We are spray free, a bioorganic pilot project.

Not using herbicides and pesticides is not an easy decision to have made.

With 3500 young people working to restore nature here, our decision to use regenerative agriculture methods is in part due to commitment to developing soil health to increase plant growth and survival for young people’s future. Being poison free is also because we wish to do our best to support human and community health too.

Each pest plant removed without using spray is a good thing. Thank you to all our volunteers for the fortitude.
