This report is highly concerning regarding the level of food poverty in a country that produces and exports so much. We have forgotten how to feed ourselves. All our markets could be promoting their value for those on struggling incomes.

The Hunger Monitor is the country's first comprehensive tally of food insecurity and will serve as a benchmark for annual updates.

MARCH 13, 2026. 8.30AM-1PM

This week we celebrate National Farmers' Markets Week, proudly showcasing 30 growers and artisan producers.

This year we're celebrating with the theme 'Feeding the Community'. There has never been a better time to come along, talk to the people behind the food and support local and in season produce.

This week we launch an information stall where you can come along and chat to the Feilding & District Promotion team about our Market and the roles we have here in New Zealand's most beautiful town and rural Manawatu. Available to purchase will be Feilding Farmers Market branded shopping bags and Feilding postcards. We hope to meet many of you in the upcoming weeks.

It’s National Farmers Market Week 2026! 🙌

We are excited to celebrate all the incredible local food and talented growers and producers here in Aotearoa.

Every week, communities gather at their local farmers market to unite over fresh food and staple items that represent the season and their region.

Farmers markets are a vibrant scene to purchase your weekly groceries, connect with the humans who have grown and made your food, as well as a place to make an environmental difference through minimal food miles and significantly reduced waste.

This year’s theme is “TASTE THE DIFFERENCE!”

Pop on down to your local farmers market this week to try out new flavours, dive into seasonal produce and truly savour the vibrant tastes of freshly picked fruits, vegetables, free-range eggs, grass-fed proteins and so much more.

Help us put our collective hands together, honouring and saying a big ol’ heartfelt THANK YOU to our farmers, makers and bakers for providing us with sustenance and joy through local food.

Happy NZ Farmers Market Week!! 💚
