- Beds and mattresses, tables and chairs, sofas, chests of drawers and white ware. Our shop in Fitzroy welcomes donations of household linen, kitchen utensils pots and pans. We have a delivery and pick up van that can relieve you of the stress of finding new homes for these items. Finally have a permanent family home?. St Vincent de Paul can help you furnish it. When it’s time to leave temporary accommodation behind, St Vincent de Paul in New Plymouth can help you furnish your family home, with second hand furniture , donated to us by people who want to help you get established. We provide beds and mattresses, sofas , tables and chairs, chests of drawers, We can also provide bedding and other household linen. AND we’ll deliver it to you without cost. COMMUNITY MEALS AND TAKE OUT MEALS

Do you need a hand up with your meals? Is cooking difficult for you? Would you like company at meal time? Each Tuesday of the year at 5.30pm there is a free home cooked meal for anyone who arrives at St Joseph’s hall on Devon St West (opposite Phipp’s motors) . We observe protocols which keep our diners safe from COVID. Come in, sit down and enjoy a full two or three course hot meal (with soup in winter), cooked and served by a team of St Vincent de Paul volunteers. Great food, companionship, and most weeks there is great music too! TAKE OUT MEALS: After the meals, a boxed takeout meal is delivered to people in the community who need a hand up with a meal, but cannot get down to the hall to eat. WHARE KAI

Do you want to build confidence in cooking cost effective nutritious meals for your family? Every Tuesday, at 9am, in St James Hall in Lawry St, Moturoa, those enrolled in our Whare Kai sessions, cook up a delicious family meal, which they get to take home for that night’s family dinner. St Vincent de Paul provides the ingredients and the recipe, which is tailored to feed the number of people in your family. You do the cooking in the hall kitchen. Friendly, experienced cooks are there to help answer your questions about the recipe and demonstrate, the skills you need you cook it. Child-minding is available for pre-schoolers who play in the hall while parents cook in the kitchen, in sight of the children. You may see and hear us talk about prisoner regeneration a lot. We often make a call for men’s clothing, hygiene items and linen to help support PARS Taranaki Here is a little clip on the great work this charity - Mike, Stacey, Suzie and Amy do in the local community to support the Men and Women working with them to get the support they need when released and integrating back into society. Thank you to Sacred Heart Girls' College - New Plymouth for your wonderful donations of clothing. Many of our items go directly to those need and others are to raise funds for the work and support we do in our local community. THANK YOU for the support 😊

It was heartwarming to see all of the donations in our foyer yesterday- brought in by our students on casual clothes day. These items will be sorted and shared with local charities , The Woman’s Refuge, St Vincent de Paul, SPCA and the Food bank. Thank you to our students- you are living the mission. ❤️

Gabby's Starlit HOPE wonderful to be a part of the ‘village’ helping to support our local community. Really awesome to have the girls pack them and so wonderful that the healthcare workers have the ability to help families in need with these food parcels. 💙 Grocery Packs supporting families across Taranaki 💙

We are incredibly grateful to St. Vincent de Paul - New Plymouth for their generous $2,000 donation which enabled Gabby’s Starlit HOPE to put together 40 grocery packs for families needing a little extra support.

Our amazing volunteers - the Sacred Heart Girls' College - New Plymouth Faith In Action students and teacher, Sheree Rangiwahia got to work putting all 40 packs together for us.

The packs were gifted to Paediatric Social Workers and Public Health Nurses to distribute directly to families across Taranaki and the feedback we received really highlighted just how needed this support is.

The Public Health Nurses shared:

“These parcels have made a huge difference for families across Taranaki, from New Plymouth to Stratford, Hawera and Coastal areas. Many whanau have shared how much relief these parcels have brought during challenging times. We are deeply grateful for your support.

A huge thank you to St Vincent de Paul New Plymouth for making these grocery packs possible and the wonderful Faith in Action team for once again giving their time to help us spread Gabby’s kindness throughout our community. 💛✨

We like to think our little OpShop is more than $$$. Not only is it a friendly place to shop (thanks to our lovely volunteers) but it’s a place the community can have the power to donate items to help others in our very own community. We have so many great charities we can support by opshopping in Taranaki. All the Op Shops support the very charities they stand for. Hospice care, houses for humanity, animals, humanitarian relief and general help to those who need a hand up. Plus it’s fun and a thrill to opshop for many!!!! And we thank our customers and donators for supporting the work we do ❤️

To continue our work in the community we require more donations. If you can help with donations of Clothing, shoes, household goods and small appliances we would be very grateful if you can think of us. Around 30% of our womens, men’s and Kid’s clothing head out to those in need. Kitchen and bedding items along with small appliances head out in our packs also. Dropoffs can be made Mon-Fri 9am-3pm drive up the side driveway of the shop 573c Devon street east Fitzroy behind our friendly bakers Piccolo Morso Bakery Clemow street.

We Have been very privileged to support Gabby's Starlit HOPE for the month of July. And we thank each and everyone of you who came and supported our efforts. We are truely feeling sad the month is over but you will always be in our hearts 🥰 Thank you Sarah and Roly for what you do (and to our dearest Tess).
