GREAT TO HAND THE DONATION OVER!

It was a privilege for us to hear from I AM HOPE ambassador and 90s/00s rugby league legend Richie Barnett on Friday. His message revolved around the importance of not only spotting when we are starting to have a tough time in our lives but to have strategies ready to go when we hit them. Zak Chisholm was thrilled to hand our donation to Richie and his team - $14,913 will mean that 99 young Kiwis will be able to access fast and free counselling when they need it most! WITH GRATITUDE
We are extremely thankful for everyone that supported this year's event. Not only was it well supported by friends and family but also by businesses, both local and further afield. We are thankful to Cooke Howlison Toyota, HiveEnergy, Julie Collings and her team at Cookie Time, Avalanche Coffee, Shoe Clinic and the St Clair Surf Life Saving Club. It was really kind of you all to help our guys help others! We also thank Eterei Stonelake and her team who, after hearing of the event once underway, arrived with McDonald's cheeseburgers, nuggets and fries to feed the masses late on Friday night - check out the attached photo of Utah Thompson, Rory Harrold and Benny Iakopo enjoying the delivery - thank you very much Eterei!

Well done to all the young men of King's High School, their friends and their families who bought into the spirit of the K24 for Gumboot Friday. 3pm signaled the closing of the 24 hours when Michelle Cogger from Gumboot Friday addressed those present and is keen to come again next year. INTO THE FINAL HOUR
The second running of the K24 for Gumboot Friday is rapidly approaching its end. We've just cheered through two 100km athletes: Marley Bennett followed only minutes later by Rory Harrold. Rory was well supported through the final laps by his Dad, Fraser, and Gumboot Friday ambassador, Scott Weatherall.

TWO HOURS ON THE CLOCK
With a little under two hours to go, Zak Chisholm has just crossed the 100km mark! Such a great effort. We are now willing Rory Harrold on who has 18 laps to hit the 100km. The difficulty for Rory is that he has to leave early so that he can play the bagpipes at the Highlanders game - he'll have to march in formation! You've got this Rory!

THREE HOURS TO GO!
In just under three hours, the 2025 K24 for Gumboot Friday will come to an end. The boys are pushing their limit now! We were thrilled to have the Southern RFC - The Magpies's Premier team join us for their warm up today, encouraged to take part by their coach, Mr. Lobb, who is our Sports Coordinator and their inside centre, Mr. Tupa'i, of the English department. Was great to see you all!

And as The Beatles reminded us, "it's all right!" Mr. McIvor has just arrived to support the currently small contingent seeing in the new day. In a couple of hours, the coffee machine will be one (flat whites and long blacks), and there will be a sausage and bread available - koha donation. We'd love to see you down at King's High School.

The K24 for Gumboot Friday is still here - a great crew has held the night together - Mr. McMillan and Mr. Lobb were out on the loop at 4am with 10 or so while a couple found some winks courtesy of our friends at Cooke Howlison Toyota. We now look forward to seeing the sun!
