Was an awesome day today being able to send this super lucky girl back to her family.

We have put a little bit of horse spray on her so they can find her in the flock.

Her wound is closed and just needs to be monitored for the next couple of weeks

💔 Another rescue that makes you wonder what some people are thinking…
This beautiful girl came into my care after being found with what appears to be an arrow/dart embedded in her side.
The metal tip had penetrated her body and, thankfully, the shaft fell out on its own, with only feathers still holding it in place.
Although she is thankfully up, walking around and looking bright, we still need to keep a very close eye on her for infection and any deeper injury.
Just look at her — she has absolutely no idea why this happened to her. She didn't deserve this. 😔💔
She is now safe, being monitored and receiving the care she needs. ❤️
Cases like this are exactly why rescue is so important. These birds don't get a choice in what happens to them, but once they come through our doors, we will do everything we can to give them a second chance.
Welcome to safety, beautiful girl. 🐔❤️
If you'd like to support her recovery, donations and adoption fees go directly towards caring for the chickens in our rescue — including veterinary treatment, medication, food and rehabilitation.

A little bit of Monday evening cuteness 😍

I was sent this photo from one of my adopters who adopted some hens and 2 small roos.

Everyday this sweet girl lays her egg in a bag of pine needles and everytime she does he sits with her until she is done.

A huge shout out to New Beginnings Rescue & Rehoming and team for their amazing box of medical supplies.

With having 3 chickens come into care with dog attack wounds in a short space of time with some being minor and some major it had completely depleted our supplies at a rapid speed.

This box of supplies will help so much to replenish the empty shelves and we are able to help the next one that comes in needing help 😊😊

*** Jude currently isnt in our care but we will do a home check to make sure his new family does live rural and can have a handsome roo*** Jude is looking for a home and flock to call his own.

He was rescued by a family and is almost 1 year old.
He promises to take good care of the ladies and find them lots of treats while singing beautifully to his new family each day.

Its been a month of medical treatments and nursing birds back to health.

1st Mr Roo is doing amazing in his recovery and its looking more promising each day.
His injuries to his back and side were pretty serious and we were all really worried at the start that he wasnt going to pull through.

2nd A beautiful hen who came in from down south after a dog attack with an infected seeping wound.

Dressing changes at almost $40 a day and meds adds up very quickly.

Being able to help these two amazing birds recover would not be possible without the donations, adoption fees and the amazing team at Avian empire supporting us all the way.

**** Both trips are currently full ****

*** Thank you everyone for offering these ladies homes. This trip if full but we are doing a second trip up in October that still has plenty of space ****

Coming up to Motueka via Nelson and Blenheim on the 19th of September with rescue hens.

Girls are 18 months old and ready for their forever families.
Adoption fee is $10 each

Please share far and wide and let get all girls into homes

🐓❤️ THIS IS WHY YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS ❤️🐓
This little guy is one of the many chickens who have come through our rescue needing a second chance.
When he arrived, he had a horrific wound to his tail/back area. The injury was badly damaged, with areas of dead tissue, infection and a very unpleasant smell. It was a wound that could easily have been overlooked or, sadly, considered too severe to treat.
But we don't give up on them. ❤️
He has been receiving pain relief, antibiotics, wound care and lots of TLC, and we're taking his recovery one day at a time.
And there are little signs that keep giving us hope.
The smell has gone.
He's eating.
He's behaving like himself.
And he's even crowing every couple of hours through the night! 😂🐓
His wound is still serious, and he has a long road ahead of him, but he's fighting — and as long as he's fighting, we'll keep fighting alongside him.
💚 THIS IS WHERE YOUR DONATIONS & ADOPTION FEES GO
When you donate to Chicken Rehab & Rehoming ChCh, or pay an adoption fee when you give one of our chickens a new home, you're helping chickens like this boy.
Your support helps pay for:
🐓 Veterinary treatment
💊 Medication & antibiotics
🩹 Dressings and wound-care supplies
🥚 Quality food and nutritional support
🏠 Safe housing, bedding & quarantine
❤️ Rehabilitation and ongoing care
🚑 Emergency treatment for chickens who arrive badly injured or unwell
Every adoption fee helps us continue rescuing the next chicken. Every donation helps us say "yes" when another chicken desperately needs somewhere safe to go.
We don't know yet what this boy's final outcome will be, but because people support our rescue, he has been given the chance to find out.
And honestly, that's what rescue is about. ❤️
Giving chickens a second chance. 🐓❤️
Thank you to everyone who supports us, follows our rescues, donates, adopts, shares our posts or simply cheers these little guys on.
You are part of their rescue story too. 🥰
