Pacific Pathways are on Paama Island celebrating “Water for Life” for the people on Paama after the twin cyclones Judy & Kevin. The outcome of this project has brought water into the communities and household clusters making access to water easier especially for the elderly and the less able. Our focus has been to upgrade and increase access to clean water for drinking and cooking, to improve sanitation and health on Paama.

We have just returned from a week of celebrations. We witnessed firsthand the responses of the people of Paama and it has been ‘truly life changing’ !.
To share a couple of stories -
Liro Medical Centre - the new rain harvest means they now have running water into the consulting room and maternity ward.
For Mama Lever, who is 82years old, the new rain harvest means she now has a tap & running water beside her cook house. This is the first time in her life she does not have to walk, fetch and carry water, which in her later years would take 45 minutes.

‘Sometimes we must reflect on what we take for granted in the developed world’

Pacific Pathways would like to thank the people of Paama for their commitment, help and support, over the last 18 months as we celebrate the completion of stage one towards the National Sustainable Development Goals for improved water systems across Vanuatu by 2030.

Mostly importantly Pacific Pathways would like to thank our funder who made this all possible. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade (MFAT) NZ and the support of Rotary NZ World Community Service. We thank you for your ongoing support for our project work on Paama and in Vanuatu. On behalf of the people on Paama, we pass on their thanks and deep appreciation for changing our lives in this way 'Tankyu tumas evriwan’!
