Registrations for our December hōtaka are closed, thanks to all the whānau who have registered your tamariki to come and hang out with us!

We're getting this one on the radar, with a bit of a disclaimer - we rely heavily on funding to run our hōtaka. Funding helps to keep registration costs at an affordable level for whānau. We can only run this January hōtaka if/when we hear about some funding apps. Fingers crossed, e te whānau!

Once we hear about funding, we will confirm the hōtaka and share a link to register 💚

During the Sept/Oct school holidays, we got to hang out with an awesome group of tamariki through our Give Us Your Kids kaupapa Māori school holiday programme. The kaupapa matua of the hōtaka was "nō hea te kai?" 🍎 🌽🫛🥩 - tamariki engaged in activities and learning to help with their understanding of the origins of our kai, and mahi we can be involved in to help grow, hunt and prepare kai.

🤩 Our tamariki were supported be a tight crew of kaitiaki tamariki - this amazing group of humans have been training and planning to ensure our tamariki are having fun, keeping safe, celebrating Māoritanga, and loving their holidays.

Ngā mihi nui ki a Bromley School - we are so grateful for the tautoko and manaaki from Bromley School which allows us to bring this kaupapa to our community in Ōtautahi.

Erin and the crew of kaitiaki tamariki are working hard in the background to plan a final hōtaka for 2025 - which will run from when school ends until closer to Kirihimete. Keep an eye out for our pānui to confirm dates and share registration info 🗒

Kia ora! We're sharing a little bit about who we are, what we do, and what we hope to achieve 🌊

Based in Te Waipounamu, we aim to provide and encourage equitable te reo and te ao Māori akoranga and kaupapa for whānau Māori and their allies. This is reflected in our name, which speaks to the coming together of two bodies of water, flowing to join as a united channel.

Our origins began with an unmet need - it started from kōrero with the Reo Māori Mai team, dreaming up a kaupapa Māori holiday programme. After some research, it became clear that no such thing existed for our hapori/community in Ōtautahi. So, we decided to create it. Pūruatia Trust was soon formed as a Charitable Trust to bring this kaupapa to life.

The scope of Pūruatia Trust casts a wide net - as well as our out-of-school care kaupapa, we look to undertake different kinds of mahi that align with our vision: for whānau Māori and their allies to be engaged in akoranga Māori/Māori experiences of learning that support them to feel stronger and fulfilled in their identity as Māori.
