Friends of Riverlaw Esplanade Reserve

Our next working bee is coming up - this Sunday the 5th of July, 9.30-11am in Riverlaw Esplanade Reserve. If weeding, matting, and mulching are your vibe, it's the place to be!

Bring along your favourite hand tools or wheelbarrow if you've got one, but no worries if not - we supply tools + barrows too. We'll stop and have morning tea at 11.

A big thank you to everyone who came and helped out on Sunday! We got all those gappy spots filled in with new plants, laid down coffee sacks + cardboard to suppress those weeds, and topped things off with a layer of mulch to hopefully keep things nice and moist through the dry weather we've been having. Ngā mihi to CCC ranger Ruby for plant + mulch wrangling, expertise and encouragement!

Thank you for everyone's hard work - it got hot under that sun! - and a final shout out for the hugely morale-boosting cheese, bread and pink buns from Jill at the end!

Kia ora koutou! Our next working bee is coming up, this Sunday 7th of June from 9.30-11am. We'll be working on the riverbank opposite 134 St Martins Road, doing some infill planting in the gappy areas where we started planting last year.

We'll also be laying down some matting and mulch to hopefully keep the plants protected and moist with the dry weather we've been having.

We'll finish up and have a morning tea at 11am - baking and cuppas provided. Just bring yourself and a spade if you've got one (though we provide these too!).

If the weather looks a bit sketchy on the morning, keen an eye on here - we'll post any postponement info asap.
