Monthly The Avian Empire Charitable Trust Update!

Thanks to everyone who chose to support us through their purchases this month, we’ve raised $1,280 for the Avian Empire Charitable Trust for the month of Feb!

That pushes us past the 50% mark for this years goal! and we’re only just starting March which is pretty darn awesome!

We are proud to extend a warm welcome to Gordon Morris, our first appointed Trustee of the Avian Empire Charitable Trust.

Gordon brings with him strong family ties to conservation in Aotearoa, along with an exceptional career spanning military service, advanced mapping technology, and strategic leadership.

An Army veteran and father of two, Gordon is the founder of a specialist mapping enterprise. After working with Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research as a remote sensing scientist, he introduced advanced mapping technologies into service within the New Zealand Army. As a commissioned officer, he went on to serve as National Coordination Officer for the ABCA Armies Standardisation Programme and Executive Officer of the Army’s simulation centres.

Gordon has undertaken operational service in Afghanistan, Bosnia, and East Timor, with additional staff duties in the Kingdom of Tonga and Washington D.C.

He is currently Principal of a Wellington-based consulting firm supporting uncrewed vehicle (drone) operators with specialist map production, based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara.

We are honoured to have Gordon’s expertise, strategic insight, and commitment to conservation guiding the Trust as we grow.

New Year, New Goals

As we head into the new year, we want to say a huge thank you to our community, especially to those who have set up automatic donations. That ongoing support is incredibly generous and makes a real difference in helping us work toward our goal of building New Zealand’s first avian-only hospital, open to both the public and wild birds.

We’ve now set our new fundraising target for the year, and honestly, we reckon we can smash it. Every donation helps support the hospital project and our wider conservation work, including the 1% Wilder Project.
