Day 5 - 25 September 2026
Mission Accomplished!
Today is the final day for the FOFH Fiji Mission.
Most of the morning was spent by the team, led by Dr Ajay Kumar, at the TIA unit located at the FNKC building in Nadera. The team attended to at least 6 patients at this site along with a house-call patient.
The entire team got involved using their individual various areas of specialization. This consumed most of the morning up until after 1.30pm.
We were deeply overwhelmed at NP Mikeli team’s solemn gesture of a traditional farewell to the NZ team with the famous Fijian song, “Isa isa vulagi lasa dina” and wow they also had small tokens of local gifts for each one of us. What heart-touching that was!!
A quick stop at CWM hospital for Dr Ajay’s debrief with Dr Shrish that was followed by a patient review at the Ward.
We hit the road back to Nadi around 4ish where most of the team will stay overnight and fly off on Saturday.
We take this opportunity to thank our FOFH Trustee, Daven Naidu, for taking charge of the transportation and the onerous task of safely driving the team around in a 12-seater mini van. Daven also has an extraordinary hidden talent of being a comedian that kept the team super entertained. What a marvelous work he did!

FOFH Trustee and a Senior Sonographer, Sangeeta Kumar, provided the local team with very much-needed support, guidance and advice with scanning tactics as well as equipment review. There is no doubt, equipment is an area that needs great attention and strategy across entire CWM spectrum and in particular as it relates to Stroke MDT.
FOFH Deputy Charman & Trustee/Secretary, Freddie Keshwan, was part of the team providing moral support and taking good care of taking photo memories and keeping everyone informed.
Special thanks to Dr Ajay Kumar for his unwavering commitment & support towards the Stroke MDT initiatives for Fiji. He has worked tirelessly behind the scenes and with the teams all these years to progress this vision forward. His compassion and care for patients has been demonstrated without an exception.
Lastly, but not the least, we thank our FOFH Board and Trustees for their support, our many committed donors & sponsors who continue to contribute generously, as well as to the counterpart team at CWM without whose support these initiates cannot be successful.
We also make special mention of a) Mr Biren, of Coastal rental for providing transportation at discounted rate,
b) Mr Ali, of Ramada Korotongo, for hosting the team for lunch upon arrival on first Sunday,
c) Mr Rajjat Chaudhary, of One World Flight Centre, for sponsoring two nights of dinner for the entire team as well as water for the Caregivers Workshop,

e) Mr Lokesh, a aluminum businessman in Suva, who had also kindly offered to sponsor dinner for the team.
Overall, this was a very successful mission and we leave Fiji with the usual fond memories and much closer attachment. God bless!!
