Matariki Herenga Waka, Tāmaki Herenga Waka 💫

Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, Britomart and Te Kaunihera o Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland Council are pleased to present Tūhono - an immersive ara toi (art trail) celebrating Matariki through light, storytelling and contemporary Māori design.

Stretching from Te Kōmititanga, through Britomart and along the downtown waterfront into Te Tōangaroa, Tūhono connects a series of significant city spaces through light, sound and visual narrative.

Created by a collective of our very own young ringa toi (artists) - Arama Tamariki-Enua, Caine Taihia, Uira Nahi and Maraea Shaw in collaboration with Angus Muir Designs - the trail draws inspiration from the symbolism and journeys of waka and explores ideas of movement, gathering and history across generations.
Gather your whānau and friends, and discover a new way to experience the city centre after dark.

There’s real momentum building at our Bayswater development where we are building 61 rental homes for the New Zealand Defence Force.

We’re seeing strong progress right across the site, with our own whānau pakihi playing a big role. Rua Construction have already completed their mahi, Guaranteed Electrical is still on site, and we’re excited to welcome Ōrākei 7 starting next week. Guaranteed Showers will also be joining in the coming weeks. It’s great to see whānau businesses leading from the front and contributing to bringing these homes to life.

You can really see the change happening now. On the outside, cladding is going up and some homes are already finished, with scaffolding starting to come down. Inside, insulation and GIB are going in across all homes, with painting up next. Kitchens and bathrooms are set to be installed in May, followed by flooring.

Everything is tracking well for completion at the end of July, when all 61 townhouses across Roberts Street and Portsmouth Road will be ready.

Progress is going really well at our Bayswater development, where we’re working with our build partner Precision Construction to deliver 61 townhouses designed for the New Zealand Defence Force on Auckland’s North Shore. Many of the frames are up and the rooves are taking shape — it’s exciting to see the development starting to take form.

We’re especially proud to have our own whānau pakihi contributing to the project, including Rua Construction - mātakitaki mai!
