Hi Everyone
This evening we had someone from the neighbourhood visit us and complaining about us taking down the Pataka with some very broad false claims and had trespassed the community premises recently to reininstall the Pataka.
He claims, we have no right to take it it down as it was installed by Council and it was very not very Christian of us to do that . All this was delivered in an extremely aggressive and threatening tone.
I wish to set records straight here.
1) this Pataka is not provided by council . Councils do not provide Pātaka to anyone its always someone with good heart from the community does it.
In this case 1st time this was funded by a couple of individuals from the Dawoodi Bohra community and after the first one was stolen 2nd time Sharon Peters and Bunnings Warehouse New Zealand
Came to rescue and Rajkotwala painted ( both times by her ) all came from good hearted people of the community.
This Pataka is property of the Dawoodi Bohra Community.
2 ) Reason to to take this one down like many others in West Auckland is due to illegal dumping. We are sick and tired of it . As it was becoming a health hazard too as bug infested mattress were left out too.
Pataka are meant for sharing of food only.
3) Telling us we did not act in line with Christian values. It is us who have made voluntary contributions to the community to provide meals and put out food regularly in this Pataka for last 7 years .
And been working a lot on food scarcity and run many initiatives including being a founding member of Pot Luck Kai in Ranui.
We will be making a formal complaint to Neighbourhood Support Waitakere and also to Police as this is unacceptable.
Unfortunately the members who were confronted by this man did not take his photo or else would have shared here.
Scroll down to see how this Pataka came to being and what Dawoodi Bohra Community has contributed.
Kia Ora Everyone
We have removed our Pātaka due to constant abuse by a few people, with a heavy heart have to say goodbye. It severed well during pandemic and post pandemic to distribute packaged food to the community.
Even now we have regulars that benefit from it but a few spoiled it for everyone.
its beautifuly hand crafted and hand painted by my daughter and made with treated for timber Its solid in construction.
We are looking for a new home for our Pātaka where it can serve the community.
We would only give to a registered Charity or a place of worship.

Thanks Bunnings Warehouse New Zealand for sponsoring after our first one being stolen. Big shout out to Sharon Peters for helping us build it and being the most amazing neighbor.
