🔨 ⚒️ We want to thank our local Bunnings Warehouse New Zealand Grey Lynn for their generous contribution to our Givealittle Campaign to transform our safe houses!

Your support means so much to us and to the wāhine and tamariki who access our services. Donations such as these help us provide practical support and safety to those navigating some of the most challenging times in their lives. Proceeds from our Givealittle campaign will help us purchase essential items for our safe house, transform the backyard into a thriving flower garden and veggie patch, and turn a house into a home🫶

Thank you again to Bunnings for your generosity and for choosing to support Women’s Refuge Tāmaki Makaurau. If you would like to support us, please consider donating to our campaign! Every dollar makes a difference.

(Zephyr, our Wellbeing Companion also says thank you! 🐶🐾)

💜 Can you help us?

We are raising funds to transform our safe houses for wāhine and tamariki escaping family violence in Tāmaki Makaurau. Each year, we support hundreds of women and children needing immediate safety and advocacy.

While our safe houses provide immediate safety, we want them to be more than just a place to stay. We want to create warm, welcoming spaces that support healing, recovery, and new beginnings. The funds will go towards welcome and exit packs, deep cleaning, mobility aids, safety aids, vegetable garden beds, kids outdoor play equipment, soft furnishings, local artwork, shelving, chests and drawers and other items that make house a home for many years to come. We also hope to establish an onsite office for one of our Social Worker Advocates, making support more accessible to the women and children in our care.

Every donation, big or small, will help make this vision a reality.

If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this post with your friends, whānau, and networks. Every share helps us reach more people.

We are incredibly grateful to have connected with the amazing team at Accor Group who recently partnered with us again to run an essential goods drive across their Auckland hotels!

Together, their staff collected blankets, sanitary products, toiletries, nappies, and other much needed essentials for wāhine and tamariki impacted by family violence (completely filled up the car in the photo!). Some of these items will be distributed directly to clients we work with in the community, while many will help stock our safe houses and support whānau during their stay.

Thank you,Accor Group, for your generosity, compassion, and commitment to supporting the work we do at Women’s Refuge Tāmaki Makaurau. Partnerships like these make a real difference in our mahi.

If you have been wanting to support our work but are not sure how, we have recently launched a Givealittle campaign to help transform our safe houses into warm, welcoming spaces that support healing, recovery, and new beginnings.

While our safe houses provide immediate safety and shelter, we want them to feel like more than just a place to stay. We also aim to establish a dedicated onsite office for one of our Social Worker Advocates, ensuring support is readily accessible when it’s needed most.

Today, Women’s Refuge Tāmaki Makaurau are launching our Givealittle campaign to raise $25,000 to transform and upgrade our safe houses that provide refuge and safety for wāhine and tamariki escaping family violence.

When wāhine and tāmariki arrive at our doors, they are often carrying the weight of trauma, fear, and uncertainty. Our safe houses provide immediate safety and shelter, but while they meet the basic needs of those staying with us, they lack the sense of belonging that helps people feel at home. The spaces are functional, but often feel sterile at a time when comfort, connection, and dignity matter most.

Through this campaign, we hope to create welcoming environments that support healing and recovery. This includes refreshing bedrooms and communal living spaces, improving outdoor areas, and establishing a dedicated office within the safe house so one of our Social Worker Advocates can be based onsite to provide immediate support, guidance, and advocacy for the wāhine and tamariki in our care.

If you are able, please make a donation. If a donation is not possible right now, sharing this campaign with your networks is one of the most powerful ways you can help!!

Every contribution brings us closer to our goal and helps create spaces where wāhine and tamariki can feel safe, empowered, valued, and supported as they take their next steps forward. Givealittle link in our bio!

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to .racewhelan and her group of classmates (Year 12 students) from Saint Kentigern College for their amazing initiative and generosity.

As part of their health promotion assessment, they identified period poverty in Tāmaki Makaurau as a pressing issue and chose to take meaningful action. As a group of young women, they were passionate about making a difference and they absolutely have!

Through their efforts, they collected and donated an amazing 544 individual sanitary products to support wāhine accessing our services. This contribution will go directly toward helping ensure dignity, comfort, and access for those who need it most.

Thank you for seeing a need and stepping up in such a practical and powerful way!

Every Thursday, we are so grateful to receive food deliveries from (special thanks to Sheldon, our delivery person!!) to help support the wāhine and tāmariki accessing our services at the Women’s Refuge Tāmaki Makaurau 💜

These deliveries make a real difference; helping us provide nourishing meals, ease financial pressure, and create a sense of care and comfort for the whānau we walk alongside each day 🌿

rescues about 300,000 KGS of good quality surplus food every month, and diverts this back to those in need across Aotearoa.

Thank you to the KH team for helping ensure good food reaches our community instead of going to waste. Your generosity and commitment mean so much to us and the whānau we support. 🌿
