Taime Talks reminds us how powerful it is to sit in a space where our journeys are understood without needing to be explained. We shared the things we wish people knew about what we’re carrying right now, and swapped our best winter hacks to help us get through the colder months ahead.

With love and thanks to Pastor Serena and Immanuel Outreach Ministry for standing with us and supporting a space where our Pasifika cancer kāinga can find connection and compassion.

If you’d like to join our next komakoma, check out the Taime calendar on our website. We'll save a seat for you.

Let’s clear something up.

When we hear “tumour”, many of us think cancer straight away. But not all brain tumours are cancer.

All brain tumours, whether benign or cancerous, can seriously affect our memory, balance, vision, mood, speech, and the way we move through the world.

For Pasifika families, this knowledge is power. If something feels different: headaches that hit hard in the morning, sudden changes in personality, vision, balance, or unexplained seizures... don’t wait! Trust your vaerua, trust your body & get it checked.

It’s that time again, fam! The online gathering that reminds us we’re not walking this journey alone. A space to reconnect, crack-up, and find comfort in the faces that have become part of your monthly rhythm.

We honour and thank Immanuel Outreach Ministry for helping us continue this space of compassion and connection for our Pasifika cancer kāinga.

And don't worry if life is life-ing and you can't make it, check out www.taime.co.nz/calendar for future dates and we'll see you when you're ready.

We tried Xtreme Hip Hop for the first time last night… and let’s just say the review is fresh off the thighs 😅

Fa'afetai to our cousins for blessing the community with FREE classes every Wednesday 🫶🏾

This REVIEW is all in good fun because we love BOTH Zumba® Step and Xtreme Hip Hop. No shade, no comparisons that divide. Just our honest experience as part of our programme, where we try different ways to keep our bodies moving and our spirits lifted.

Tell us: which one are YOU:
Team Zumba® Step or Team Xtreme Hip Hop?

Throwback Tuesday to one of the biggest blessings in our first year as Taime Pasifika Cancer Support. When stepped onto Celebrity Treasure Island 2024 and chose us as her charity, she lifted our families with her through every challenge. Fa'afetai to our beautiful sis for making the connection 🫶🏾

During her time on the show, Gaby won two charity challenges, gifting us $10,000, which was massive for our new & humble organisation. This donation made it possible for us to give our clients meaningful experiences.

Gaby fought for us on that island with the same courage, humour & heart our fanau bring to their cancer journeys every day. We honour her... always!

As Celebrity Treasure Island 2026 screens tonight on TVNZ 2 at 7:30pm, we’re tuning in. Watching it takes us back to when Gaby stood up for us and won. A reminder of how powerful it is when someone believes in your fight.

Three days at the World Indigenous Cancer Conference filled our hearts and stretched our minds. Presentations, talanoa, learning, connecting! All of it centred on how we can better serve Indigenous communities carrying the weight of cancer.

But we also wanted to know: how do the people doing this mahi look after themselves?

Cancer work is tough. It takes courage, tenderness, and a lot of unseen emotional labour. So we stepped outside the cancer kōrero and asked our new friends Gabriel from the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation and Lenny from Western Australia, what self‑care looks like for them.

Their answers reminded us that even the strongest advocates need rest, joy, and moments to breathe.

Our skin tells the story of our aiga, our islands, our journeys. This month, we pause to protect it.

Melanoma and Skin Cancer are some of the most common cancers in Aotearoa, and Pasifika are often diagnosed later, when treatment is harder. Early detection saves lives, and it starts with something simple: checking the skin you’re in.

If you notice a new mole, a changing spot, or something that just doesn’t feel right, don’t wait. Your body is speaking... listen with compassion.

For our aiga: guide your loved ones, especially our men, to get checked. Sometimes all someone needs is a gentle nudge from the people they trust most.

By taking part in these awareness months, we help spread knowledge, support research, and empower our communities to take action before cancer takes hold.

Your skin matters. Your life matters. Let’s look after each other.

What's the word to describe feeling overwhelmingly Blessed? Because that's how we walk into the month of May 2026... and humbled to be chosen to do what we do.

We're still high from our sesh. Fakaaue lahi and .nz

Ahhhhh.... life is good 🤎🤍🖤🤍🤎

Today’s reminded us why connection is at the heart of everything we do. When our families come together — to talanoa, to laugh, to heal, to simply be — something powerful happens. You could feel the alofa in that room today.

Fa’afetai tele lava to our generous sponsors, Cancer Society Auckland Northland and Percy. Your kindness makes this space possible. Because of you, our aiga have a place to rest, to be seen, and to walk this journey surrounded by community.

Relationships are our strength... and today, that strength was glowing.
