On Saturday, 8th August 2026, The Motorsport Club will once again hold our annual Awards Night - a chance to get everyone together for a well-earned night off and to recognise the people who help make motorsport happen. 🤩

For one night, the radios get turned off, the overalls stay at home, and the people usually standing trackside get to relax and be recognised for everything they do during the season.

Whether it’s flag points, recovery, timing, race control, scrutineering, or one of the hundred other jobs that keep race meetings running, this night is about saying thanks to the people who make it happen. 🥳

There will be good food, a few laughs, some well-deserved awards… and we promise nobody will need to dress anything with oil soak for this event!

Each year, The Motorsport Club holds its annual Volunteer Training Day alongside the BMW Race Driver Series Scholarship Day at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park.
This year, we're giving the day a fresh new look.

Rather than focusing solely on training, we're introducing a more interactive Volunteer Open Day - designed for both our current volunteers and anyone who's ever been curious about getting involved in motorsport.

The day takes place alongside live on-track activity, giving you the opportunity to experience the excitement of a real motorsport environment while learning how each volunteer role contributes behind the scenes. It's the perfect chance to see officials in action, ask questions, and gain hands-on insight without the pressures of a race meeting.

Attendance is free, with no experience required.

Whether you've been thinking about volunteering for years, or you've simply wondered what happens behind the scenes at a race meeting, this is a great opportunity to come along and discover what it's all about.

Nominations are now open for The Motorsport Club's Annual Awards! 🙌

Each season, we're fortunate to have incredible volunteer officials who are committed to making our events possible. Now's your chance to recognise those people and celebrate their contribution to our motorsport community.

President's Cup 🔸 Recognises an emerging under 21 leader within our club.

David Smith Memorial Trophy 🔸 Celebrates volunteers who, like David, show exceptional dedication, service, and achievement within their motorsport club.

Delwyn Elliott Memorial Trophy 🔸 Represents the dedication, camaraderie, and love for motorsport and the people in it, that Delwyn exemplified throughout her life.

"Making new friends and being with my motorsport family."

It's a small country. Motorsport somehow makes it feel even smaller.

It's amazing how many lifelong friendships start with a volunteer vest and an early morning sign-on.

"The hot chips, the people, and the iced chocolates."

We suspect the hot chips and iced chocolates help, but the people seem to be a common theme for why our volunteers do what they do. 🤩😎

There's a lot more to motorsport than the race cars on track.

Volunteers are just one piece of the wider motorsport ecosystem, alongside officials, competitors, clubs, venues, sponsors, media and spectators... just to name a few. There are many, many more!

Every role serves a different purpose, but when even just one piece is missing, the puzzle isn't quite complete. 🧩

Twenty-six years is a long time to be involved in anything.

For Tony, it's been 26 years volunteering in fire and rescue, helping support motorsport events around the country.

From the earlier days at Pukekohe Park, to the streets of Hamilton, and Race Control in the apartments at Hampton Downs, motorsport has seen plenty of change in recent years.

Different venues, different faces, different eras.

Looking back, were you there? We'd love to hear - or even better, see - your memories from the days gone by.

🔸 1999 - Turn 1 at Pukekohe Park Raceway, although a bit wet.
🔸 2012 - Race Control at Hampton Downs... but not how we know it now!
🔸 2012 - Hamilton 400 for the last time.
🔸 2016 - It seems to rain a lot in Pukekohe!
