Our Big Butterfly Count project was featured in The Kathmandu Post, one of Nepal’s leading English-language newspapers.

More than 558 butterflies were recorded at over 25 sites in 15 districts during the month-long survey, including several rare and threatened species.

The Global Big Butterfly Count Nepal 2026 (GBBCN 2026) brought together 149 participants across 25 locations, 15 districts and 6 provinces, recording an incredible 173 butterfly species and 558 individuals! 🌿

From common species to rare and remarkable finds, this year’s count highlights the incredible diversity of butterflies across Nepal and the value of community participation in documenting our biodiversity.

A heartfelt thank you to all the participants, local partners, supporters and collaborators who made GBBCN 2026 possible. 💚

🦋 Report of Pollinator Week 2026 is out now! 🐝

Last week, from 22–28 June, we celebrated Pollinator Week 2026 under the theme "Life on a Leaf: Celebrating Caterpillars and Host Plants." We ran a full week of virtual sessions, pollinator watching activities and "7 Days, 7 Colors, 7 Pollinators" and Pollinator Marathon.

With the combined effort of all our collaborators and partners, namely Nature Conservation and Study Center - NCSC, Butterfly Watchers Nepal, TinyLife Finders, Club for Wildlife Conservation - CWC, IFSA Pokhara - International Forestry Students’ Association Pokhara, IFSA Hetauda - International Forestry Students' Association Hetauda, Wildlife Conservation Society CNRM-Katari, Udaypur , Vision Green Organization Nepal and Idea Wild, we celebrated the Pollinator Week successfully.

This is also the success story of every participant, volunteer, and well-wisher who got involved. Your curiosity, your field observations and your enthusiasm for the smallest, often-overlooked pollinators made Pollinator Week 2026 what it was. 💚

We hope you'll stay connected and tuned in as we carry this momentum forward — there's plenty more pollinator work ahead!

Successfully conducted the Big Butterfly Count in Pokhara 2026 at the Institute of Forestry, Pokhara Campus, with 23 participants and 20 butterfly species recorded.
A heartfelt thanks to Sneha Uprety , Nirmal Pandaya and Bikash Dhakal for their excellent coordination and support in making the event successful.

With this, we also conclude the Big Butterfly Count 2026 in Nepal for this year, marking a wonderful end to our butterfly-counting activities in Pokhara, Kaski.

Successfully conducted our Big Butterfly Counting program today, 2026/09/29 (Ashoj 13), Tuesday, at Suryabinayak, Bhaktapur with 5 participants and 44 butterfly species recorded !

The beautiful view of Gurkarpo Ri and Dorje Lhakpa Peak, along with the view of Bhaktapur, made the day even more special.
A big thank you to our coordinator, सिद्धार्थ सापकोटा for leading the program, and heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined today.
