🚨 NEPAL FLOODS – URGENT UPDATE 🚨

A sudden glacial collapse near the Nepal-Tibet border has unleashed catastrophic flash floods and debris flows through the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli valleys. Hundreds of lives have been lost, over a thousand people remain missing (including many Nepalis and foreign visitors), and entire communities, bridges, roads, and livelihoods have been swept away. The full scale of the impact is still emerging.

This is a moment of profound loss and uncertainty for Nepal. 💔

At Merit Nepal , we are not repeating the same appeals into the same networks. Empty noise does not save lives. Instead, our team is quietly supporting government authorities in two focused ways:

1️⃣ Locating and connecting resources through our knowledge network. We do not have the economic capacity or on-site rescue capability to operate directly in the flooded gorges.

2️⃣ Our tech team is actively tackling the flow of false information , quietly tracing disaster capitalists, show-off activists, and unauthorized crowdfunding efforts, and channeling verified traces to the authorities. We learned this hard lesson after the .

🤝 How our global community can help right now:

🙏 Keep the victims and rescue teams in your thoughts and prayers.

📢 Spread only the official donation channels. Nepal has activated a strict one-door policy. Unauthorized collections are illegal and harmful.

⏳ Stay ready to support survivors later. Active rescue will take at least a week; the full picture of needs is not yet clear.

✅ Official ways to contribute (international & domestic):

🔹 Online portal (cards supported): https://pmdrf.nchl.com.np/

🔹 Himalayan Bank USD account for international wire transfers:
Account Name: Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund
Account Number: 01905631210046
SWIFT: HIMANPKA

You can also find verified donation information and official channels compiled at: https://khojde.com/donations

⚠️ Use only official government channels and accounts published by the PMO Nepal .

⚠️Verify everything⚠️.
Fake QR codes and personal collection drives are already circulating.

We will share updates when the situation stabilizes and longer-term recovery needs become clear. Until then, disciplined support through the right channels is the most useful action we can take.

. Quietly. Effectively.

🌱 Merit Day 2026 : "The Silent Seasons Were Never Silent"

July 24 (Merit Day Special)

It's been quiet on this page for a while.

No weekly updates. No campaign banners. No "look what we did this month" posts.

And maybe that silence made it look like nothing was happening.

It was the opposite.

Back in 2016, a small group of young people in Pokhara sowed a seed -- not a metaphorical one, an actual belief: that sustainability isn't a slogan, it's a practice.

In 2017, that belief got a name ➡️ Merit Pokhara
and later, a bigger home under Merit Nepal, our national council, carrying the same conviction to more districts, more communities, more hands willing to dig in.

Seeds don't grow on a posting schedule. They grow in their own season, underground, unseen......until one day, someone else notices the fruit and asks, "how did this get here?"

This Merit Day, we want to tell you about one such fruit and how far it's travelled in just one year.

📍 Kafalghari, Pokhara.

Years back, our founder Sanzay Bhandari convinced local farmers to take a chance on Kaguno (foxtail millet) over maize: climate change -resilient, monkey-resistant, and now a 9400+ KG harvest in Kaski alone.
Alongside it, Merit Pokhara backed something quieter and harder: a women-led Aama Samuha in the same village, starting with Sukadev-Ambika Bhandari 's first brave step.

Not just a crop change. A cultural one.

That was a story we told last August, in a single post. We didn't know then how far it would travel.

Then, in June 2026, something happened that we didn't have to tell at all.

At the SAFS National Conference in Rampur, Chitwan — hosted by Agriculture and Forestry University alongside Nepal's Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Forests and Environment, FAO Nepal, and international partners — a panel was convened on gender and agroecology. Government officials, FAO specialists, and researchers sat at that table.

And Ambika Bhandari, Lead Farmer and Chairperson of the Kafalghari Aama Samuha Mother's Group sat there too. And stole the show.

She spoke about cutting dependence on chemical inputs, about women needing real access to agricultural machinery, and about something disarmingly honest: that money handed to a woman tends to actually reach the household. The room listened. And the model her Aama Samuha piloted — the one Merit Pokhara quietly backed from day zero — is now being looked at as a reference point for other local governments across Nepal.

No press release announced that moment for us. No banner said "Merit was here." But we were. From the first hesitant conversation in a maize field, to a national stage.

That's the story of every silent season. The seeds we plant rarely make noise while they're growing. They make noise later, in tons of Kaguno harvested, in a mother's group that didn't give up, in a woman who took the mic at a national conference and didn't need us to introduce her.

This Merit Day, we're not asking you to celebrate us.

We're asking you to notice what quietly rooted, sustainable community leadership actually looks like and to trust that the next silent season is already growing something too.

🌾 To Ambika Ji and the Kafalghari Aama Samuha; thank you for proving it was possible 🙏.

🌱 To everyone who's ever wondered "is Merit still doing anything?"
YES. Always.
Just in seasons, not headlines.

Happy !
