LEADS Nepal is deeply saddened by the devastating flash floods along the Nepal–Tibet border, which have resulted in the loss of lives and extensive damage to communities, homes and vital infrastructure.

We express our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and stand in solidarity with everyone affected. We also sincerely appreciate the security personnel, emergency responders, volunteers and local communities engaged in rescue and relief efforts.

Breakthrough in Circular Nutrient Recovery

LEADS is pleased to announce the successful recovery and preliminary identification of nitrogen and phosphorus from human urine, marking an important milestone in our research on circular sanitation and resource recovery.

This innovative approach demonstrates that nutrients commonly lost as waste can be transformed into valuable agricultural resources. Our long-term vision is to implement this technology at the community level, helping to:

* Reduce environmental pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.
* Protect water resources and contribute to climate action.
* Strengthen local fertilizer self-reliance by reducing dependence on imported chemical fertilizers.
* Convert waste into valuable resources through a circular economy approach.
* Create new livelihood and income-generating opportunities for communities while promoting sustainable agriculture.

Myagdi visit: Alex and Diana experienced the collection centre firsthand through local purchasing, received a heartfelt welcome from the SHG group with handmade corn husk flower bouquets, Schewan Pepper and shared meaningful moments with young girls, cooperative women, and the team.
