Volunteer Society Nepal (VSN) was founded in 2004 with the aim of creating an opportunity for people from around the world to actively contribute to the betterment of Nepal while also immersing themselves in the rich culture and breathtaking landscapes of the country. Our mission is to bring positive and long-lasting changes to marginalized communities through comprehensive, inclusive, and equitable development programs by engaging international volunteers in projects that uplift and support Nepalese society.

AGE IS JUST A NUMBER!

A huge, heartfelt welcome to Elena (71) and Marina (63) from Italy, who just arrived in Kathmandu for an inspiring 2-week journey!

These incredible women are proving that retirement is the perfect time for new adventures and giving back. Over the next two weeks, Elena and Marina will be joining our Monastery Teaching Volunteering Program, sharing their warmth and knowledge with the young monks, followed by an exciting trekking adventure through Nepal’s breathtaking landscapes!

It is so inspiring to see them making the most of a fruitful, active, and meaningful retired life. We are thrilled to have them with us.

HERZLICH WILLKOMMEN TO NEPAL! 🇳🇵🇩🇪

A very warm welcome to Tina Karl from Germany, who has just joined us for a 4-week Teaching Volunteering Program!

Tina’s journey began on day one with an airport pickup and settling in smoothly with her welcoming local host family. Day two was dedicated to mastering basic greetings and phrases during an interactive Nepali language class.

On her third day, Tina set off to explore Kathmandu’s iconic UNESCO World Heritage Sites as part of her cultural orientation—soaking in the spiritual atmosphere at the sacred Pashupatinath Temple and walking around the magnificent Boudhanath Stupa!

We are so excited to have Tina on board and can’t wait to see the positive impact she will make in the classroom over the next month. Have an incredible time in Nepal, Tina!

MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THE MOUNTAINS! 🏔️🩺🇳🇵🇨🇿

A huge shoutout to Martin Kral from the Czech Republic for successfully completing his 4-week Medical Elective Program at Phaplu Hospital in Solukhumbu!

Trading clinical routines for high-altitude healthcare, Martin worked alongside local doctors and healthcare professionals in the Himalayan region—gaining valuable hands-on experience, supporting rural community health, and experiencing mountain life firsthand.

Thank you, Martin, for your dedication, hard work, and compassionate service to the local people of Solukhumbu. We wish you all the best in your medical journey ahead!

Recently, we had the privilege of interviewing Federico, who joined Volunteer Society Nepal as a volunteer at our partner Disability Center in Kathmandu.

In this video, Federico opens up about his daily experiences—from assisting local caregivers and leading engaging activities with the kids to experiencing the rich cultural warmth of living in Kathmandu. He highlights how small daily efforts created lasting smiles and how much he personally gained from working alongside our dedicated Nepali staff.

Nothing brings people together like making (and eating!) fresh, handmade momos!

Our wonderful Dutch student group spent a fantastic afternoon at our supported Women Center, diving headfirst into a hands-on Momo Workshop. Guided by the incredible women of the center, the students learned the art of rolling the dough, mastering those tricky traditional pleats, and preparing authentic local fillings.

Beyond learning a new culinary skill, it was an afternoon filled with warm cultural exchange, continuous laughter, and genuine connection. Sharing stories around the kitchen table and enjoying a delicious feast together made it an unforgettable day for everyone involved!
