Forest Fire Awareness Workshop – Manang Village

A Forest Fire Awareness Workshop was successfully conducted in Manang Village with the participation of 35 individuals, including CAMC members, teachers, representatives from Nepal Police Humde, National Investigation Department (NID) Humde, Armed Police Force (APF) Humde, and other local stakeholders.

The session focused on the causes and impacts of forest fires, preventive measures, early response mechanisms, and the role of local communities in minimizing forest fire risks. Discussions also highlighted the adverse effects of forest fires on biodiversity, wildlife habitats, forest resources, and local livelihoods.

The program emphasized the importance of community participation, inter-agency coordination, and public awareness in preventing and controlling forest fires within the Annapurna Conservation Area.

Trekking Trail Signage

A set of conservation and tourism support materials was successfully prepared and transported to CAMC Khangsar, Tanki Manang, Manang, and Chame for installation and operational use.

The materials included 135 ranging rods, 40 signposting poles, 3 feral dog warning boards, 3 altitude warning boards, 9 information boards for major lakes of Manang, and 1 animal transportation cage following cements and other stuffs.

These materials will be installed at key destinations and trekking routes including Tilicho Lake, Thorong La, and major lakes of Manang to support visitor safety, improve navigation, enhance environmental awareness, strengthen wildlife management, and promote sustainable tourism development.

The activity contributes to improving tourism infrastructure, conservation outreach, and community services within the Annapurna Conservation Area.

Rising Threat of Feral Dogs – ACAP UCO Manang

On 2083/02/18, a 2-year-old Himalayan Musk Deer was found dead near the Humde Airport area, Manang, following an attack by feral/stray dogs. The carcass was partially consumed and was later recovered and respectfully buried in humde airport with coordination with the Unit police office Humde, APF Humde and NID Humde, Ward representative, and ACAP UCO Manang staff.

Similar incidents have been increasing in the region, where feral dogs are emerging as a significant threat to wildlife, domestic animals, and even tourists.

In response, ACAP Manang is addressing the issue through sterilization (vasectomy), vaccination programs, and coordination with relevant stakeholders. Public awareness and support in proper waste management and avoiding feeding stray dogs are essential to reduce such incidents.

Tourist Flow Update – May 2026, Manang

During the month of May, Manang recorded a positive flow of visitors from SAARC countries and other international destinations along the Annapurna Circuit Trek route. A total of 1089 tourists from SAARC countries visited the region, including 846 male and 243 female visitors, with the majority arriving from India .

Similarly, 3470 tourists from other foreign countries were recorded, comprising 1950 male, 1520 female, with the highest number of visitors coming from India (1080 visitors).

Overall, a total of 4559 tourists visited Manang during May 2026 reflecting the continued growth of tourism activities and the increasing attraction of the Annapurna region among domestic and international travelers.
