MIWUI Mugal Indigenous Women Upliftment Institute ( MIWUI) is a national organization of Mugal Indigenous

Mugal are the indigenous people of Mugu district – one of the most remote and least developed district of Nepal. According to Nepal Census, Population of Mugalis are 4,475 of which 2337 are women but Mugal community claims there are approximately 7000 Mugalis in Mugu district. digenous People (NFDIN) has categorized Mugal indigenous people as the marginalized group who are underrepresented in the state structure . MIWUI was established in 2007 to organize and mobilize the Mugal women to establish their social, cultural, economic and political rights. MIWUI is a non political, non- governmental organization registered in Kathmandu District Administration Office. Since then it has been working in the issue of indigenous rights, gender equality, language rights ,climate change and health and education through various training , workshops, advocacy and research to empower the Mugal women. It is the first organization established by the Mugal Women collectively to establish the indigenous rights of Mugal Women.
