SIAN Organizes Multi-Stakeholder Consultation on Draft Child Care Center Guidelines

Society for Integrated Allied Nepal (SIAN), in coordination with the National Child Rights Council (NCRC) and in partnership with iDE, CARE, and LDSC, successfully organized an interaction program on the Draft Guidelines for the Operation and Management of Child Care Centers, 2083.
The program brought together representatives from the Ministry of Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities, and Social Security; the Ministry of Education and Sports; the NCRC; UNICEF; MuAN; NARMIN; Democratic NGO Federation; Child NGO Federation; I/NGOs; and civil society organizations.

Mr. Ram Bahadur Chand, Officer and Information Officer of NCRC, presented the draft guideline, followed by constructive discussions and valuable feedback from participants. The program was chaired by Mr. Dilli Ram Giri, Chairperson of SIAN and former Chairperson of the Central Child Welfare Committee, and facilitated by Mr. Pralhad Timilsina, Executive Director of SIAN.

The consultation provided an important platform for stakeholders to share recommendations for strengthening the guidelines and advancing quality, child-friendly, and rights-based Child Care Center services in Nepal.

SIAN in Nepal play a critical role in strengthening Child Rights Governance and Child Protection by engaging in advocacy to influence policy development and implementation, ensuring child-friendly budgeting, and holding duty-bearers accountable to their child rights obligations. They are instrumental in building the capacity of local governments, communities, and child protection actors (police, judicial, social workers) to prevent and respond to violence against children. Moreover, SIAN conduct awareness campaigns on child rights and protection issues, and empower children to participate in decisions affecting their lives.
