which runs its activities in the rural mountain twin villages Bakham and Tsagam in Sindhupalchok district of Nepal since 2009. We are a small registered NGO "Jam-Kyong" which runs its activities in the remote mountain villages Bakham and Tsagam of Sindupalchok district (Listi VDC, ward 7&8) of Nepal. Since foundation in 2009 our main mission is to provide educational, financial, medical, social su
pport and development in the area, as well as to preserve local Himalayan culture and languages. We are mainly a team of around 10 regular members, who jointly run various projects. Our REGULAR projects are:
===> running of school, which provides completely free education (from nursery to 5th standard classes) for around 70 children in total. We provide annually free uniforms, study materials to the students, pay monthly salaries to the teachers. Children study mainly languages (Tibetan, Sherpa, Nepali, English), math and science. We spend minimum 3400$ every year for this project.
===> arranging medical camps. There is no medical post or service in this remote area. We bring traditional Tibetan doctors to the villages, as well as arrange the Tibetan medicine and first aid materials. We try our best to arrange the camps up to 4 times annually. We spend minimum 600$ for one such camp or 2400$ each year.
===> providing financial help to the single destitute people, especially above 60 years old. Depending on available funds, every 4 months we distribute some cash money to them. We spend annually at least 200$ for this purpose. We do not have fully-fledged regular sponsors who would cover our already running projects with a guarantee. Every year we strive to collect enough funds not to let the current projects stop. There are as well such miscellaneous expenses like quarterly meetings of members, obligatory office rent in Kathmandu, government taxes and handling of annual financial reports (minimum 1100$ annually). However we optimistically plan further projects. These will be possible only in case of surplus donations or separate sponsorship. What NEXT do we plan to do more in the nearest future?
===> Construction of the office-cum-health post in the Bakham village. Prior to 2015 earthquake we had such a small building, but after destruction it was yet not rebuilt. This building is important to NGO, as we could run here the meetings and medical camps, store the medicine and study materials for the school and invite for stopover the project volunteers. Estimated required funds for constructing such building is minimum 700$.
===> Running of environmental projects around the village (preservation of nature and trees, constructing toilets and garbage pits and recycling spots, awareness lectures etc). We require minimum fund of 1000$ to start of such programs.
===> Giving training of first aid and basic medical service to a team of few locals in the village. Currently there is no hospital and no health-post within the area. The nearest village providing this is 5 hours of trekking away. Estimated required fund is minimum 1000$. You can support us financially by donating any amount to:
