A joint monitoring visit was conducted on 27 May 2026 in Changunarayan Municipality under two projects implemented by ENPHO: the IUWM Project supported by Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ)/BORDA and the SARWACHA Project supported by Dopper/WaterAid Nederland. The purpose of the visit was to review the progress of ongoing activities and observe the current status of project interventions within the municipality. The visit was attended by municipal representatives, including the Mayor, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Ward Chairpersons, Chief of the Social Development Section, Chief of the Planning Unit, technical staff, and WASH facilitators.

During the field visit, the team observed several intervention sites, including Dudole Stone Spout, Nasakhu Dhungedhara, Patleban Water Supply System (WSS) with source protection measures and a semi-IoT based chlorine dosing system, Balmiki School WASH facilities, and Duwakot Health Post.

A key area of discussion during the visit was the need for the development and endorsement of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the operation and management of stone spouts. The team reviewed the operational status of the facilities, discussed sustainability measures, and observed ongoing improvements in water, sanitation, and hygiene services. Discussions also covered the continuing efforts toward achieving a Safe Water Community in Patleban WSS.

Municipal officials acknowledged the importance of the proposed SOP for stone spouts and expressed commitment toward its endorsement to support the sustainable management and preservation of traditional water sources within the municipality.

The monitoring visit reflected the ongoing coordination between the municipality and partner organizations in strengthening urban water management, improving WASH services, and supporting community resilience in चाँगुनारायण नगरपालिका - Changunarayan Municipality
