‘The Next - 2024' presents works by 23 young artists working across diverse media of drawing, painting, mixed media, ceramic and sculpture. The show brings together artists who are pursuing or have completed fine art studies from different art colleges in Nepal in order to present the queries and reflections of the next generation of Nepali artists.
The young artists weave themes of identity, culture, and lived experience to create portraits of the world as they see it. For most, the works take a personal, introspective note to draw the viewers where they stand. Through nuanced observation and symbolic motifs, they invite viewers to reflect on their individual ideas and themes. Through colors, textures, text and material, the artists invoke their particular ways of seeing the world. Their various ideas and themes come together to embrace the diversity and ability of the next generation of artists.

According to the Catalogue Raisonné, "Bacon regarded Painting 1946 as epochal, and as a defining event in his career."

"He claimed he had intended to paint a bird of prey landing in a ploughed field (although on other occasions he added that this had evolved from a prior image of a chimpanzee in long grass), before what he referred to as his ‘butcher’s shop picture’ emerged on the canvas. Bacon was, of course, discussing the painting’s iconography: this is distinct from both Cézanne’s notion of ‘paint-as-sensation’ and the ‘accidental’ accumulation of ‘irrational’ or ostensibly abstract paint- marks that constituted a figurative (or ‘figural’) image."
